Someone's gotta get a Feddie up here...

Here's where I'm at with the Federation DNG. It's got a rough surface all over, was short-shot, suffered from mold-slip, the outboard nacelles weren't round and the starboard one short-shot as well, but at normal gaming view distances it looks good. If it were plastic-smooth and cast perfectly it would be a beautiful mini. I like it though and from about two feet away it looks killer.

I haven't glossed it for decaling yet. I'm thinking that the decaling and sealer might knockdown the roughness of the surface of the mini and improve its appearance.

If you did that with a "bad" mini, I'd love to see what you can do with a good one!!!!!

I like the blue glow on your engines. Mine stand out too much - yours have a nice subtle glow to them.

Nice.

I've had plenty of mold line issues, and my mate is not that impressed at all with his Roms, though he is much more of a modeller than me (I'm just a gamer). His Eagle has a totally missing fin and like mine the engines have really come out bad with very heavy mold lines/slippage that always seem to go right over the detail parts.

Jim, your Feds are really inspiring, please don't stop painting them because the really are fantastic. You also seem to have a knack for taking pictures.

Hmmm.. little , err... no, a lot washed out there.
Washes go on Wednesday (tomorrows my 30th anniversary! - probably won't be painting minis on Valentines Day!)
And detailing starts after that.

Will post better photos as they are completed.

I thought I'd post some better pics of the ships, now that I got my missing DNG part and my Klingon box. I'm not sure what to think about the Klingon paint job haha, I don't even know what I was thinking when I painted them. At first I was going D7 Studio Model Paint scheme, but it didn't look right (main body-too dark) so I just started adding random color. I'll probably redo them at some point.

The Condor's "Death From Above" bird of prey is gorgeous!

Those are excellent! I really like the painted details on the Fed ships - especially that CL. The Klingons look good and I have to concur about the belly bird on that Condor.

Great job!
