Starline 2500 metal to resin comparision

Post by Scoutdad »

I received my Starline 2500 demo pack in the mail, finally!
It contained 2 Federation Heavy Cruisers and two Klingon Battlecruisers - one D6 and one D7, and is designed to allow one to demo ACTASF using real, Starline 2500 miniatures.

Since these minis were the new metal versions, i took a few side-by-side photos between them and their resin counterparts to give you an idea what the differemces are.

Lots less flash.

Looks like another goof happened with the D-7's engines. Short-shot, or wrong engine packed in the bag?

More great quality control there. Seems to be a pattern. Do the employees not give a damn, or is management saying send it out anyways?

I just put in an order for Squadron Box 1 and 2. Sort of worrying seeing the lack of quality control going on with these... Is this the norm from Mongoose?

I have seen people on their forums saying that this is typical Mongoose, that this kind of quality has been going on for years.

I received my Fed and Klingon fleet box last week. The E4s were mis-molded (the engine's detail was sub-standard, and the rear of the Engineering hull was partially missing. With the Fed FFs, I received the wrong engines, such that 2 of the 3 FF have a right engine where the left should go.

I'm not going to request the correct parts, partly because I've dealt with the hassle of getting a replacement mini from them before.

But I will say that the metal minis are much better with fewer glitches than the resin ones.
