Solder
Does anyone have any thoughts or experience at using solder to weight the bottom of the hex stands? Would it be heavy enough? Would it melt the plastic? I have some stands to experiement with but I wanted to ask as well.

I bought a bunch metal fender washers at the local Fastenal store, piano wire from a hobby store and slip shot sinkers from Wal Mart.
Matched to the size of the mini. 1.5" for the DN and 1.25" for cruisers and smaller. 1" for 2400 series minis. Whatever looks right.
I hammer a 1/8th inch slip shot sinker used for Carolina rigs through the middle of the washer, then hammer about an inch of piano wire through the middle of the sinker. It's tight. Paint it all flat black and put a sticker on it.
It seems to fit on the deluxe hex maps fairly well and it's bottom heavy for sure. It's not easy to tip over.

Pardon the dirty grills, I'm in the middle of this paint job.
