Looking for ideas for freighter paintjobs

Post by Bill Stec »

I'm looking for ideas for freighter paint jobs. I have some freighters that need paint, but am not sure what I want to do with them.

Bonus points if they are white/look like Federation freighters. I plan to use some left over Fed decals from Tennshington where possible.

They are intended to be non-Empire specific freighters, for the most part. Not really interested in grey; I have enough grey ships.

Thanks

Have you done an image search for "wet" freighters? Some of the shipping lines have their own paint schemes.

Since they're "merchants" don't forget the rust

There'a a couple of freighter pictures in the 'General Ships' thread on the SL2400 minis sub board here...

...which might give you inspiration. See Dan Ibekwe freighters, for example.

I've seen other manufacturers freighters have a gray or metallic body of the freighter, with the cargo pods/containers in different colors, similar to the cargo containers on the super freighters in use today in real life. So six containers, six different colors!

Kind of like how the Heavy Freighter is painted up on the Mongoose web site!
