When you say layer upon layer - do you mean you literally just paint a lighter shade right over all of the darker shade? Or do you mean you are painting a smaller "highlighted" area lighter? I've seen "layering" mentioned before, but I've never really gotten a handle on it except in using inks or translucent paints (shades beneath translucents to add textures and what not, often for "liquid" effects).

Just curious :)

I paint the area I wanted in lighter colour with a layer of lighter colour right over all of the darker section.

Do you have to keep the paint very thin for that?

No, if it is too thin it will flow in the deeper areas and the whole panel effect will be ruined.

Great work!! Even my wife had to say, "I'm jealous." In a good way, of course.

Love those ships! What kind of mounting rods are you using for them?

Thanks!
:)

Mounting rods, bases and pegs are all from CorSec:

Highly recommended!

Nice! I've been looking for some alternatives and the two that previously came up from some of my searches are basically out of business right now.

CorSec stands are great.
I wish I'd used them when i first started... instead I started with Ninja Magic... then found I couldn't get enough - I switch to a modified version of the Mongoose ball and socket stands and weight ADB hex stands so I can switch out stands from game to game.
Too much invested in the current system to switch out nearly 1,000 Starline minis at this stage.
