I don't want to get into politics, BUT, like just about every business in the USA, we're sitting on what money we have and trying to decide whether the massive tax increases on January 1st 2011 will allow us to stay in business at all. I suspect that ADB probably will stay in business, if only because the difference between staying in business and retiring and puttering may be invisible from the outside (i.e., I just won't pay myself any more, and will live on my retirement accounts for the ten years or so I have left). That puts me in a unique situation, and lots of businesses with lots of jobs are going to just close the doors if the tax policy doesn't do a radical change. The government is determined to take money from people who earn it and give it to people who did not earn it (but voted for them) and well, why should any of us bother earning anything? THAT is what's going on in American business today, and if you don't like it, well, it's what the people voted for.

yeah. I was going to say "Yeah right, with Obama in office
" during my last post, but I didn't want to offend people. But it's the truth. The reason for a good economy is the incentive to work. Taking money from those who earned it reduces thier incentive to work and earn, and giving it to those who didn't earn it removes their incentive to work and earn. It isn't fair to anybody.

Pretty much went Galt myself way back in '99 when I retired from the US Army --
Though I have held several jobs since then, I pay my taxes when I file, not out of my paycheck/pension ----
As I was informed several times over the years, everything you pay in over the year is just an "Interest Free Loan" to the government you have to petition for its return (File Taxes) to you at the end of the year ---

Physical Ship Cards are good, but in a lot of cases I think it's going to be a choice between a .pdf Ship Card and nothing at all (for example Gary's Omega project). In such cases, I'll take .pdf and be happy with it.

You know, today I printed out a Fed GSC and the Large and Small armed frieghters for a scenario I'm working on. I brought them to staples and got both of them laminated for just $1.39. It was easyPredator06 wrote:I'm Old fashioned I guess.
I Much prefer a good old fashioned Book, with a nice color cover that I can hold in my hands.
As for SSD cards, I absolutely LOVE the Pre laminated color card stock.
Having the actual ADB made cards just makes them more special some how.
Sort of like Collecting Baseball cards, except there aren't any rare ones.
I like flipping threw my ring binder with all the beautiful pre laminated cards stored neatly in there clear plastic page protectors. And going "Oh wow I want / need to get a few Fed DW cards!
Collecting the cards is almost as neat as collecting the minis.
I even got the GSC in both scales, merely using some double-sided scrapbook tape to but them together, then laminating.
Oh yeah. It seems like a pain, but once you get it done once, you realize it's not too bad. I've got about two dozen cards, all double sided, made this way. Just grab some 11 by 17 lamination pockets, put in four double sided ship cards and go!pinecone wrote:You know, today I printed out a Fed GSC and the Large and Small armed frieghters for a scenario I'm working on. Can't wait to see what you cook up for a scenario.

What exactly is "laminating paper"? I have seen laminaters like Scoutdad talks about but something makes me think you aren't talking about that sorta mojo.Carthaginian wrote:I've used regular old Wal-Mart laminating paper to make ship cards from Communique issues. It works just fine, and I generally get 1 card out of each sheet.
