That reminds me of a song I once heard...

"I'm broke but I'm happy
I'm poor but I'm kind
I'm short but I'm healthy, yeah
I'm high but I'm grounded
I'm sane but I'm overwhelmed
I'm lost but I'm hopeful baby

What it all comes down to
Is that everything's gonna be fine fine fine
I've got one hand on my phaser
And the other one is giving Marcus a high five "

Skexis goes back up the fire escape when no one's looking and takes that route in.

Skexis slinks off and begins to climb on the side of the hotel, many stories up.... The wind whips around him. [Climbing... 13 or less succeeds (3d6=13)] Skexis's foot slips for moment and he almost falls....

Marcus Kane attempts muscle his way in, but a hulking construction worker quickly blocks his way. Marcus flashes his fearsome stare of intimidation... and the man hardly raises an eyebrow. The man becomes infinitesimally annoyed with Marcus. "Hey... this is job is for Union Carpenters only." (A decade of Union work has apparently made these men unfazeable.)

Meanwhile, on the ledge outside the window.... Skexis peeks inside. It looks like the housekeeping staff have already cleaned the place up. The bed is made. There is a chocolate on the pillow. There is a pad of hotel stationary and a pen on the desk. There are fresh towels by the bathroom. Skexis occasionally sees a construction worker wander in and out.

Edit: spelling

This isn't looking too promising but Skexis attempts to get in through the window anyway. He wants to see if there's anything Tarsh left that maybe the cleaning crew missed.

Skexis:

You look around the room quickly. [Perception roll... 10 or less (3d6=15)] You see nothing special.

A union worker sees you in the room. "Skat, cat!" He shouts at you and tries to shoo you back out the window. [IQ roll... 10 or less... normally... (3d6=3) Woah. CRITICAL SUCCESS] You think... maybe something can be discovered by examining the pad of paper. You grab it before jumping out the window.

[Climbing roll 13 or less... (3d6=14)] You're in such a hurry, you slip and fall. Twisting around in mid air, you manage to catch hold of a flag pole. [Acrobatics roll... 13 or less... (3d6=10)] You execute a perfect triple flip and you are now on the ledge the next floor down.

You pant for breath momentarily, realizing that you nearly killed yourself for a pad of paper.

Marcus bristling like a junk yard dog says to the Union worker,"Listen unless you want to have an extended leave of absence...you best let me through!"

[Occ: Do I see Skexis go into the room and retrieve the pad of paper? If not Marcus isn't backing down.]

"Nothing doing. You ain't working here without your union card."

Skexis comes back and gives you a wink.

The party is reunited and now has a pad of Voyager's Refuge stationary.

Captain Jack pulls everyone aside out of earshot of anyone else for a brief chat.

"Someone has to have gotten all Tarsh's items from there. Let's try to find someone on the cleaning staff and see what they know, since they usually know everything going on in a hotel."

Marcus failing to hold back his anger at being barred from the room halls off and punches the worker in the face (all out attack: determined).

Woah...

[Boxing-14 + AOA/Determine(4) - Face(5) = 13 or less... and a Brawling Parry 14/2 + 3 = 10 or less. (3d6=11, 3d6=11)]

Marcus hauls off and punches the Union Man in the face!

[Damage is +2 per die... Basic Thrust is 1d. (1d6=4) ... 6 points of damage!]

Looks like a major wound to the face.

[Roll for Knockdown and Stunning. HT 10; -5 for major wound to the face. 5 or less "saves". (3d6=8 )]

The union man collapses on the floor in a heap. The other eight workers look up from their tasks and form a threatening mob.

What now...?

[GM Note: Captain Jack, Marcus Kane, and Skexis all gain 3 character points for completing Act one. Enjoy! Spend 'em how you wish without worrying about study, etc. This is supposed to be more like D&D style "leveling up" than a bookkeeping exercise.]

Marcus says after the man hits the ground,"There's my Union card..."

[Overconfidence roll (3d6=12) made it]

He sees the eight men forming up and gets past his pride and backs away giving the union workers the stare down as he heads to the lift (assuming with the others...)

The party evades the angry union workers and is now in a relatively safe location. (The workers may be unfazeable, but they are a little slow.)

You have the pad of Voyager's Refuge stationary from Tarsh's hotel room.

Looking at the pad of paper. He says to Skexis,"How is a blank pad of paper going to help?" Marcus says to Captain Jack,"Sounds like a plan lets go!"
