It's more like THOUSANDS of ships...
And over 2 dozen empires...
Spanning 3 different galaxies...
And then there's the truly oddball stuff...
What can I say? It's been literal decades since I tried to keep count. All I know is I have a giant stack of SSDs.

But yeah, SFB is huge and sprawling.

You do know that you can buy PDF versions of the SSD books and save a ton of shelf space...........

Mentioning the number of ships isn't really so much about whether you can buy them as SSD books in hardcopy or PDF format or how much space they take up so much as acknowledging that there is a lot of content in Star Fleet Battles.

Anyway, I couldn't buy PDF SSD books when I bought my SFB stuff because it was the 1990s and I don't think the first game book on PDF had even been sold yet, let alone the sheer number of them available now.

I mean buying them on PDF is a great idea and I totally plan to do so.

Same here...
Bought everything in 'dead tree' format when it came out.
Then scanned all SSD book to PDF and then broke out individual SSDS and saved then by rule reference number...
Then moved each into an empire specific directory.

So I haven't bought the PDFs yet because I already have a DVD with PDFs of everything though R12... including CLs, Nexus, Pinwheel Galaxy, Triangulum Galaxy, Borak, Peladine, Megalanic, and even everything produced by 'those who should not be mentioned'
And it takes up way less apace than all of the actual books.
