F&E has it's own combat system (a couple of them, actually) to resolve battles - or, fights can be fought in SFB or FedCom. Considering the shear number of them, that would be very hard to do.

Thanks :D .
No, it's all quite self-contained. I'm going to Origins this weekend to participate in the annual Federation and Empire Throwdown. This year there are 28 pre-registered players in 4 different scenarios.

I am commanding the forces of the mighty Hydran Empire in th Four Powers War scenario. I'm taking the digital camera, the notebook, an the long-range wireless adaptor. The plan is to upload each days photos to a web-site to allow all to follow th progress of the Hydran surge.

I'll post the URL here once it's set-up and running.

Will is correct. The combats are handled in the F&E game itself since quite often battles involve 100 or more ships on each side and there are usually 50 to 60 battles a turn.
Playing those out in SFB or Fed Comm would take forever since the General War is 34 turns (17 years) long. Much of the tactical part of SFB combat has been abstracted out of the F&E system.

I'll be interested to see how it works. I'm planning to devise some four powers war scenarios once I get DK.

If that hadn't been so funny, I would have been appalled. 8)

I'm really looking forward to seeing the running commentary and pics Tony.

The "Iron Man" F&E stuff always happens and then usually gets written up after the fact, but I always figured some of the flavor gets lost with time.

I've found that with my own battle reports - if I don't write it up that evening, I start straining to remember important details that turned the battle ("Now, why did I lose all my photons at that point... hmmmm....."). the fun and jokes and what-not tend to get lost too.

Besides, there are no photos more exciting than those of a bunch of grown men (and one lady this year - YOU GO JEAN!!) squinting at little squares of cardboard ;)
