Love the artwork. Can't wait to get this.
Can anyone that has this confirm what variant of Tug is included?
Does it have phaser-3s and a drone rack?
Does it have any pod variants? Self defense, etc.? Or just plain cargo?

Mine is at home, so you'll have to wait for a bit for actual variant included... but it's cargo pod only.

Since it's listed in Briefing 2 as being compatible with the Middle Years era as-is, it may be an unrefitted model of the Tug.

Awesome cover, awesome ships, gotta have it!

The ships included are:
FJD Dreadnought (no refits)
FJD DD (no refits)
MY DDM (no refits; only 2 photons)
CAR (only rear phaser refit; FJD CA is in Briefing #2)
DDG (full refit)
DDL (full refit)
Scout (full refit)
Tug (full refit)
The reason for the Scout and Tug having full refits is so that these ship cards are available when the BoM Briefing is done (to work with the other scouts) and when the Tug Booster is done (to give the Feds a GW-era tug).
The first four ships (FJD DN, FJD DD, DDM, CAR) are all available for use in the Middle Years and are directly referenced in Briefing #2. If you want the Middle Years Federation Tug, it is available in Communique #38.
The last four ships (DDG, DDL, SC, Tug) are all available for use in the main game, though obviously the Scout won't be of much use without the Special Sensor rules in BoM.

But the Tug just carries cargo right it's not one of these dumb battle tugs??

I seem to remember reading somewhere that High Command is vehemently opposed to the Battle Tug ever making it in to FC.
I may be wrong, though; my memory is not all it was. What was I talking about, again.....?

Correct. Tugs only use cargo pods in Federation Commander.

I have some questions about the Fed DDs and would appreciate very much if someone could answer them. Please note that I do not have Booster 91 yet.
1. The Fed DDM from Communique 37 has 12 hull boxes. The Fed DD has only 10 hull boxes. Does the DDM get 2 extra hull boxes?
2. Please refresh my memory...what do the DDG and DDL designations mean?

DDG is 'Guided Weapons' - the drones.
DDL is 'Leader'.
However I don't know, myself, what the DDM stands for. Could someone please enlighten me? It's not a Mauler, is it?

Close Kang,
DDG - GUIDED - 2 Drone Racks replace 2 Photons.
DDL - PLASMA - 2 Type F Plasma replace 2 Photons.
DDM - Middle Years Destroyer - 2 Hull replace 2 Photons. (And no Drone Rack or P3s If I remember right.) EDIT:I think there are also 4 Power replace by 4 more Labs. Or to make a Main Era DD you replace 4 Lab with 4 Power =p
Why the Designator Changed from "L" to "F" is up to the translation of the USAF Tapes. But the Plasma Variants of the Frigate and DD were given a "L" and the Plasma Varaiants of the BC and DN were given a "F" /shrug.

The Middle Years Fed DD has 8 labs (instead of 4 labs and 4 reactor), no Ph-3's, no Fed-special drone rack (the one with 4 anti-drones and 2 regular drones).
My other question was about the number of hull boxes the DD is supposed to have. Was this a misprint or was it intended? If intended, then what is the explanation of the difference of 2 hull boxes between the DDM and the Middle Years DD? Besides the hull, they are exactly the same except for the two extra photons on the DD.

It is exactly as Dal explained: The DDM has two extra hull boxes, but only two photons total. The DDM was the "real" original DD (the bridge between the YDD and the FJD DD). It had some extra spacekeeping that was eventually reduced to make room for two more photons.
Yes, that means the DDM -> DD conversion literally converts two hull into two photons. Don't ask for that conversion for anything else ...
So, the DDM is correct as printed. It does indeed have 12 hull, and the DD/DDL/DDG/SC all have 10 hull.
