We're really trying to move away from "race" to "species" or "empire." The Klingon Empire has a lot of species in it. The Gorns do have races (Grey, Brown, and Green Scales). I've wondered if the feline and canine species have races ("Cats with Round Faces" or "Cats with Pointy Faces and Loud Voices," for example)...

I still want to see gunboats (but no tenders) in the main game. Fighters, carriers, tenders, and such can all the rest can be left in Borders of Madness. But I would like to see gunboats (as mini ships) be included in the main game.

Weren't tenders mandatory in SFB, as a way to offset the low cost of Gunboats --
Without tenders, possibly having a higher cost so tenders aren't necessary ----

For the feline species we call them "breeds."
... not in their presence, of course.

PFs can't enter the marathon, their range is too short.

I don't so much mind fighters, except that they lead to carriers.
And I don't even mind carriers so much, except that they lead to escort ships. And carrier battle groups.
The concept of escorts and carrier battle groups is just so....wrong....in the SFU that i'd rather not see anyone else have fighters (except the Hydrans) than to see FedCom go down the fighter--> carrier--> escort/battle group path.

I think Blammo has the right of it. I concur with him.

Yes. I concurr completely. One of the reasons I gave up on SFB many years ago. However, as I stated at the beginning of this thread, I would like to see fighters/PFs as local defense assets for planets or maybe bases
only, except in the case of Hydrans.

I can understand your point of view, but not everyone agrees with your point of view, so to cater to evryones taste, we should have fighters placed into BoM so that individuals or groups that desire to play with fighters may do so. Those that wish to play without fighters play FC and they get their way and their desire. This is the only fair way to implement fighters without 'screwing up' the game; thus, everyone gets what they want.

And of course if you want to use figthers/PFs for local planetary defense in your campaigns, then that's your prerogative; you are free to do that!

Beyond the Hydrans, I'd only want to see other hybrid-carrier fleets (Hivers, Souldra etc) get fighters in the vanilla game.
I'd be interested to see what the rules for Alpha gunboats look like, in order to extrapolate Omega and LMC types; though it might be best to stick with casual PF deployment restrictions (except perhaps for the Hivers) outside of BoM.
It would be no worse than satships being deployed based on hangar space.
I kind of like the idea of a survey ship casually taking a PFQ...

Pretty sure that omega wont be considered the "vanilla" game much like BoM won't be. So I don't think there will be anymore hybrid races with fighters in fedcom proper.

I still want to see the alternative universe in which the Kzinti followed the Hydran model rather than installing extra disrupors during their refit.
