Not so. The Hydrans lost strategically vs the Klingons and Lyrans because the Coalition had either superior technology (as in the first time they lost the Kingdom) or were outnumbered and made strategic blunders (the second time). The Hydrans usually lost

It is historically accurate - historically when hydrans got close they often won. There is a big difference between losing wars and losing battles. One can win one whilst losing the other.if you get too close, the Hydrans can easily defeat you (which is not historically correct as the Hydrans usually lost)

Life for a Hydran fusion (or even hybrid) fleet gets dangerous when you have a Klingon fleet crushing a cruiser a turn at long range with really not much ability to do much damage in return.storeylf wrote:It is historically accurate - historically when hydrans got close they often won. OTOH, attacking objectives (BATS, SB, etc) with a Fusion fleet is a costly proposition but one that the Hydrans are likely to win.
I think that plays pretty well with how I view the Hydrans: suicidal little buggers willing to take heavy losses to try and get the Klingons and Lyrans off their land.
The problem is, there just weren't enough Hydrans to succeed taking heavy losses in every battle (win or lose).

In FC, sometimes you just draw a bad matchup.kirbykibble wrote:ok... i get your point.
regardless, the hydrans should be able to defeat their enemies if they used proper strategy
Fpr example I recently duelled a Hydran Tartar in a Lyran CW and sent him off the map with significant damage without taking internals.
A Lyran is a VERY DIFFICULT single-ship matchup for a hellbore Hydran. And while my opponent made a minor mistake at the beginning because he didn't understand the ESG/Hellbore interaction which gave me a slight initial advantage--even if he had played perfectly it would have still been quite difficult for him to win.
