Took the words right out of my mouth OGOPTIMUS.

Just think; the kind of quality and dynamic shots they brought to Doomsday Machine, in an episode with FIVE Federation CA's going full-out. That one will stay on the TIVO permanently.

Someone mentioned HD for those remastered shows...

They are not in high definition with the 16:9 aspect ratio. That can't be retro-ed. They are simply digitally remastered.

I do like the cover. I'm just struck again by the dissimilarity of the GURPS and d20 cover-art styles.

I think they'll come as close to true HD quality as they can. They went back to the original vault copies of the episodes on film for the source material. They look pretty good, even though the lower quality (35mm?) film they were shot on limits things a bit.

"The Ultimate Computer" airs this weekend. W00t!!

iTunes had them at one point. They are about to come out on (standard) DVD.

I'm not sure if they are still doing the remastering of the TOS episodes. Has anyone heard anything?

Asik, only the 1st season are available for purchase. Too bad, because The Doomsday Machine is 2nd season and it has the best remastering effects of all of them I've seen.

Mike - The link I put up is to an article showing what the second-season remastered DVD art will look like. It hits stores in August.
I'm going to wait until Paramount gets them released on Blu-Ray though - why buy twice?

I've got the HD-DVD 1st season....sigh.

From what I've read, Blu-Ray may not happen, because there may have been some monetary help coming from Toshiba (the HD-DVD creators) to encode the TOS remastered in HD format. We'll see though.

Oh, it will happen. With the format war over, Paramount won't forgo the opportunity to make money from their property. Once standard DVD sales start to seriously dip, they'll have to re-issue TOS-Remastered on Blu or let their sales die - they certainly won't do that.
It's just a question of when. I'd assume it might be 2-5 years and when they do, it will be the typical bait-and-switch double-dip before we get the package we really want.

Will - you are so negative! :D

but that's the very same reason I haven't already purchased the re-matered discs. I have bought ST waaaay tooooo many times already. I want to wait a bit for the Blu-Ray version (which will come - but as Will said, only after Paramount has milked every other possible sale out of the current versions!)
