Since you mention generic hulls, the Fast Naval Transport could be a nice addition to that list...
Damn, wish I'd thought of that. Yes, it would.

OK, but once you change the barracks to hull, the repair to cargo, discard the special shuttles, and remove its other special abilities, all you are left with is a crappy scout frigate with extra marines units. And if you actually remove the special sensor, you are left with a crappy frigate troop ship.

If you do leave the special sensor in, though, then I would like to start formally adding scouts and survey ships into the mix, too. At that point, special sensors are not really all that BoM any more.
With Cruiser sized shields...

And Sensors really aren't that BoM.

I forgot about the ISC CF with that list.

But then, maybe a list of pre-existing Ship Cards could add it as a bonus?

Pack 1: BB, DN/DNT, CC, CA, CS/CL, DD, FF, CF, DNL, DNH, DDL, POL

Pack 2: BBL, DNP, NCA/NCS, NDD, NFF, HCW, CW, DW, CLF, CBR, HPL, HDW (vanilla)

If the battleships end up taking two slots each, drop the HDW and DNP, then move the POL to pack 2.

EDIT: I'd hope a future BBL Ship Card would incorporate the plasma variant suggested in the SFB R-section from CL41S, too.

Me :).

And special sensors have been labeled BoM. You either are or are not BoM, there're no halfsies.

Okay then, I am BoM. but there is grey in this world

But honestly, they aren't really too difficult to understand. There are just many purposes for them, but once you learn those it's easy.

I don't think anyone is disputing whether they are difficult to understand or not. They are BoM so as with anything else BoM they shouldn't be in FedCom products. Its the old salami tactic, once some Bom slips in the rest starts slipping in.

If you want everything in the games you play -- Star Fleet Battles is right there for you ---

Put some effort into something and play by the real rules --

That's a little condescending isn't it Bolo? I'm sure you didn't mean to be quite so provocative.

What if you don't want your games to get too complex? And want battles that can be played in an hour or two? Federation Commander is enough for me, and for others too, barring a minor addition or two.

And what's with the "real game" jab? As far as I can see, Fed Commander is very much a "real game". SFB is of course the original which Fed Commander uses for its source material, but both are "real" in their own right.

That was a nice attempt at looking down your nose at Fed Commander players there. I'm impressed. I thought only us Brits were supposed to be such snobs.

Jab at people that want everything, but unwilling to take the dive into the game that already has it -- The same group that likes FC for its simplicity but are campaigning to triple the size of the rules ---

Condescending are the people (99.9% don't even know FC), that rip SFB for its large Rules etc when they haven't even looked through it --- The same people that grew up with RPGs that make SFB look like a shortstory --

Obviously applies to me, as I'm pretty much an SFB novice; I've only been playing it since the late 1980s.

For that matter, Bolo, there are things in SFB and FC that leave me cold - Space Dragons, Space Amoebae, Omega, Briefing 2.

But I wouldn't dream of complaining about their inclusion - if other players like them, that's fine by me.

If you don't want BoM, might I suggest that you are free to ignore it?

For risk of starting a firefight, I will not reply.
