This all sounds pretty fantastic. I appreciate all the work you guys are doing on the playtesting and also to the designers for making changes based on your feedback. Too many games these days don't have enough playtesting before they go to print!

How is going in reverse handled? Is it a special order or just regular movement? Are there any restrictions on it or can you go full speed forward on one turn and then full reverse on the next?

Reverse is not a special action, but has several restrictions of it's own.
You can go full speed ahead on one turn, and go in reverse the next; and then go full speed ahead again on the third turn, but...

Movement in reverse is limited to 4 inches maximum distance nad you CAN NOT turn at any point during the reverse movement turn.

Scoutdad,

I'm guessing the stats for vessels are going to be laid out pretty similar to the other CTA games, meaning you can have some nice 3x5 ish cards for each ship. Can you confirm this with what they have sent you so far?

Also, has tractoring or transporting been addressed?

Yes. That is correct.
We've played with various card sizes.

The first were 8 1x2 by 5 1x3 (same as FC), so we could use the same sleeves as Fed Comm. [That makes it easier to use dry erase markers and erase], but when we got to a 17 on 17 game, they were a bit big.

Then we changed them to baseball card sized - front and back. That worked OK, but as you flipped the cards, thye got smudged [or accidentally erased... stupid Orion Pirates. I still that was no accident!]

3x5 was the third go 'round. That worked well.. unitl rules tweaks started coming in. Then I got tired of typing... re-typing... re-re-typing...
Now we just scribble the stats for the ships we're using on index cards and be done with it.
Once the rules are released, I'll probably clean up the 3x5 drafts and make some nice ones and then laminate 'em.

Tractors: Check. Like Prego, it's in there.
So the Gorn Anchor is a definite possbility. (And a valid tactic)
Although they get used for drone defense more than anythign, at least so far.

Transporters: Check.
Transporters have been distilled down to the basics, but they function as they should and are quick and simple.

From what I have seen, they have broken the last barrier and moved the last boulder. A few rocks need to be moved around, then a half a dozen pebbles, and then a handful of sand.

Just do what I do.

Have half your weekly paycheck direct deposited into ADBs bank account and then tell them to send you one of everything as it's released... three of the really cool stuff!

Of course, the only problem with that is that it's all really cool stuff!!!

How differently do the three series of Romulan ships handle in the current version of the ruleset?

Is there enough difference to make Eagle-, Kestrel-, or Hawk-only forces fly differently on the tabletop; and do the three series complement each other well at this scale, or are they best left split into separate fleets?

(The present lack of a Vulture to round out an Eagle series force notwithstanding.)

Tony, Silent Bob, or one of you other playtester. Do Admins have thier Phasers in ACTA:SF. If so can they be placed on the bases of a ship to aid its Defencive fire? I see a rule that would allow this in ACTA:NA.

Yes and yes.

Unfortunately, it's very unSFU-like, but ships traveling at 1/4 their max speed with every shuttle they possess in flight and on their base has become a standard anti-seeking weapon tactic in some instances.

We tend to still rely more on the "speed is life" mantra, but some of our group areconsidering trying this tactic instead.

I have recommended to Matthew that the phasers be eliminated from Admins for just this reason.

Well. I stand corrected.
It now looks as if there will be no admin phaser cloud.
