.
The Tholians, having learned a valuable lesson, are now allied with the Gorns and TSE.
Hmmm...Fed/Seltorian/Romulan alliance, what a novel concept. Of course there is the Romulan/Klingon military alliance to consider and the fact that the Klingons and Seltorians have had a blistering military campaign from the moment they made contact. I'm not sure the Klingons would be willing to give up their punch buddies.
Of course the TSE might make a good substitute.

The diplomatic landscape of the campaign is currently pretty complex, this turn will be a very powerful and I beleive crossroads turn where the next 5-10 turns will be determined and also the fate of two very important entities (Fed/TSE) shall be under the radar.
Romulan senoir Ambassador;Archis Molasar will provide a sweeipng update by saturday morning as to the outcome of turn 11.
regards!

Pallida: lol. If I'd been asked when we started these campaigns going I'd have bet that one of us at least would have packed in our campaign by now, so I think we both deserve some congratulations.
In a way the previous year has been about getting us to this point (ie the start of the General War). Players have had time to develop their empires and build fleets. Only now are they getting to the point where they can push out a significant number of ships each turn and therefore risk serious military action. Alliances have by now had time to adjust their forces so (for example) many Federation ships are in Klingon and Hydran space as the Fed tries to become the Arsenal of Autocracy.
The next real crunch point for our campaign is how it's going to develop as players have no limits on the number of ships they can have. Will I be able to administer the game when every player has 100+ ships? Currently the theory is that most of these ships will move in large fleets and hence checking 20 ships moving together will be no more difficult than checking the movement of one ship. If it doesn't work that way I'll have to introduce "maintenance costs" to limit the amount of ships players can run. Given the success of Fleet Scale as a way of playing large battles more quickly I'm really hoping this won't be necessary.

The feds could always ally with the Klingons too. After all, the TSE damaged a Klingon F5.
Also, a question of the rules, do Battle frigates and light frigates (i.e. the E4) count as "Frigates" for exploration purposes?

We'll see...diplomatic phase of T11 will be a hoot.

Yes...I used E4's for exploration. A frigate is the smallest ship class that can explore, so light frigates and Battle Frigates count. Fed Police Cutter cannot explore.

I thought only frigates could explore.

Hello;
great question on which vessels can explore; actually the start of the game at set-up gives each starting empire 2 frigates, that is the reference point for exploration and for Frigates. Staying with the 'true' star trek spirit any vessel may explore, with the exception of Dreadnaughts and or BB's
we use Frigates as the starting/refernce point in the game for exploration.
I hope that is clear.
Regards!

Okay, thanks! I'm considering trying this version of Campaign out as my next. The only problem is that we only have two players.

Hello and well met pinkfluffy.
yes I am glad to say that the campaign is under full steam and it sounds that yours is aswell. We addressed the fleet levels with reduced command ratings and joint fleet operations guidelines.
any empire may have as many ships as thier empire command structure allows however a fleet that is assembled is limited to the CR of the flagship. the other way to impact the overall CR of a fleet is to promote a legendary captain to Commodore or to Admiral which would allow a gain of 1 or 2 ships respectfully.

The ISS Golgotha turned slowly towards the federation formation, we are taking a risky gamble thought the Admiral. so we send three fast and light ships out of the web fortress to harrass the Federtaion fleet and hope to disrupt thier formation. The three ships a NCL a NCA and a DW had passed through the web wall and were now maneurvering towards the federation fleet. "Fleet weapons control has confirmed the launch of drones from the reaction squadron admiral" reported commander Regulun.
Admiral Aginusar wathced the damage control read outs as they played across the main fleet cooridinator displays. the NCL Havok was badly damaged and burning from many hull breaches. the power grd on the ship showed massive fluctutations as the auto redirect systems found new conduits to direct power and as damage control teams shut down primary systems and engaged backup emergency circuits. the NCL veared away as the three escort vessels turned back towards the web fortress. the Orion Vanguard and the Seltorians had engaged the harrasment squadron. yet so far the tactical advantage that this move was supposed to provide had yet to prove to be a fruitful move.
The the Admiral reviewed the situtaion one more time and realized that there was in fact an opportunity, he acticvaed the con sytem and was in immeidate communication with the captain of the ISS Armagedon. " captain we will exit the web fortress and engage the main elements of the Federation fleet, prepare to engage at proximity range"
the web shimmered, great bursts of plasma energy rippled across the front of the barrier in protest as the TSE warships pushed through the edge and into open space. the Primary hull of the TSE DN broke through the barrier followed by the rest of the ship, wuth the DN came the TSE commad Cruiser Armegeddon and the NCA Genocide..the heavy fire power of the TSE fleet.
as assumed the federtaion fleet turned to engage...from three different vectors...Orion, Seltiorian and main body....
Admiral to fleet, target the Command Cruiser.....all weapons to full power.
to be continued......................

turn 11

Turn 11 had allot going on, I will attempt to summarize the turn for you. the turn took about 7 hours to finally resolve...a good turn with many changes to the games political landscape and the lanscape of the map.
POLITICAL:
The Romulans visted earth, the praetor met with the president of the federation and the member worlds. The federation agreed to cede all of the Former Seltorian territory to the Romulan empire as a protecterate state, in exchange for militray support and an alliance. The romulans agreed, the Kzinti were not happy with this and announced a formal protest indicating that they would be hostile to the romulans if they allied with the federation. Even the KLingons were concerned about this agreement, and they are long term alllies with the Romulans.
The Gorns discovered a derilict base on turn 10 along the Lyran frontier, the assertained it was in fact an old Lyran station, they returns the station and level 4 system it was found in to the Lyrans, the Lyrans gave the Gorn 40 PP in order to save 'face' to such a large and generous trade.
The TSE gave to the Tholians the planet Malestrom Prime with the level 6 system that it was found in on the feration border, in axchnage for an increased tholian militray presence on that border, the Tholians agreed and sent thier BB, the sword of the Holdfats with it's attnedant fleet to this system.
The Tse also gave to teh Kzinti a world discovered in thier territory that is along the tholian border, this wolrd was found to contain ancient kzinti ruins, the Kzinti agreed.
The Kzinti in a bold move gave the TSE permission to use thier territory to move militray vessels and fleets, and to use kzinit bases as supply points. the TSE and Kzinit are geting to be very close and unified in purpose.
The Orions made an agreement with the Romulans to carry prodution points that the romuans themselves cannot carry due to all of the losses in the ROmulan merhcan marine, the romulans agreed to a charge of 50% of the total value to be given to the Orions. the romulans further stipulated that with the 60% margin loss that the Orions will forgoe any and all pirate activity in the Empire and that PIrate vessles operating in the borders will intercept any raiders that come into the Empire.
The Romulans ceded a vast portion of the former seltorian soace to the Klingon Empire, the ROmulans kept the seltorian home system and a buffer of systems surrounding the homeworld but gave the rest to the Klingons thier allies. They also sent a message to the TSE and Kzinti the message merely said "they are yours......"
The Romulans achieved the victory they wanted without warfare...the control of a vast tract of space and the gain of a homeworld.
The Federation is greatly reduced and weakend, however not dead, any empire trying to tale them out will have a very tough war of attrition as teh federation shrinks down to thier capital, with it's starbases and bats...
also if the federation player so chooses he may take control of any of the NPC races (romulan, Hydran, Tholian) The Lyrans have a new human player controlling them.

The Klingons invaded the TSE, through the wormhole on the TSE side. the TSE had just started upgrading their MB there to a BATS (see purchases) the Klingons met no resistnace what TSE ships that where there to help to defend pulled back and they blew up the BATS to prevent it from falling inot Klinog hands. the Klingon fleet was the B-10 and its attendant cruisers and escorts.
The Klingons also attempted to attack the Gorn with Romulan allies in a joint fleet operation but due to miscommunication Romulans vessles had not been transfered form the Home fleet to the KLingon border to actually launch the operation so it was aborted.
REFLECTIONS:
in reviewing the 13 ships that have been lost in action in the campaign it is interesting to note that so far 3 of them have been Dreadnaughts or larger.

1 Seltorian BW
and the other losses area as such
fed BCG
Fed CC
Fed NCL

Orion CR
total ships that have seen action are 65, with 21 of those getting some type of damamge
Cheers
PM
All told an interesting round.

I doubt that the Federations trade (territory for allaince) was worth it.
