I agree that the Fed DN could deal with the D7 - that's not why the feds had to upgrade to (in SFB terms) the DN+ and the DNG. The issue is dealing with other DNs such as the C8, Kzinti DN or Romulan Condor, all of which could quite nicely clean the chronometer of the under-armed Fed DN.

IIRC there is a scenario in one of the Captains' Logs that has an unrefitted Fed DN jumped by a D7 and D5 (I think). That might be an interesting one for conversion to Fed Cdr.

That does sound like an interesting battle. I might have to try it out!

Something like that is For the Honor of the Flag published in Captain's Log #26.

I'm working on converting it to FC, but there are a lot of special rules.
