Great... I wasn't going to GenCon,since I spent all my disposable income at Origins and am saving for Ogre 6th edition...
Now I may have to forgo giving my money to Steve Jackson and go to GenCon instead.

Well, by contract, they cannot sell them at Gencon unless they first send me copies to sell by mail order...

I just checked out the pics on the other site.

Overall very cool but I have some concerns with the D7.

Engines are too thick, and what used to be a "intake grill" on the leading edge of the aft hull's "wings" now look to be more of a protruding scoop? I could live with those (well, maybe not the fat engines) but what has to go is the odd protrusion on the front of the boom.

IMO, that change just ruins the classic lines of the D7.

Greebles here and there, especially some detailing on the aft portions of the ship are appreciated. I've always prefered where the impulse engines are located on the K'tinga. Never made much sense to me to have the shuttlebay/deck just above the impulse exhaust...

The additions toward the aft/underside of the boom are appreciated. Looks like there is a emergency impulse engine (or APR for KRs) mounted there that doesn't interfere with turbolifts, gangways and equipment stores.

The CA was promising as well.

Hope to see a prototype at Gencon.

Well I think when they actually print it or however it works, the exaggerated details shrink down, and are sometimes lost if they aren't done right the first time. So thats probably why the engines seem fat, among those other things.

I think it looks awesome! I can't wait to see them realized!

It boggles my mind that we as trekkies and SFUers can be so nitpicky. Are two 1 milimeter rectangles really going to "RUIN THE CLASSIC LINES OF THE D7" for you? its not like you couldn't shave them off if you really don't like them so much. Personally I would like to see all the windows go because decals are so much easier, but they are probably going to look amazing when they are done and painted.

ADB has always given us a lot of room to voice our opinions and then make a lot of changes based off of those opinions, but mongoose isn't ADB and honestly I don't think we should treat ADB the way we do at times.

Anyway I am not trying to be rude, I am trying to point out that there is a lot of criticism on this forum for the new miniatures and not a single one has even been spun up yet.

From a positive side of things, I believe the front detail on the secondary hull is going to look amazing and I can't wait to build me some K7R's for the glory of the Empire. WOOOOO!!!

I think those are design #2, which has already been replaced by #3 and it will be #4 which goes into production.

Mongoose fixed the ram scoops based on player input from the ADB websites (the BBS and FB) so they ARE paying attention!

It's only easier for guys who have some kind of modelling talent :) For a thumb-fingered ultra-left-brained computer geek type like me, putting decals on a curved surface is tremendously difficult.

That is excellent news Steve.

Always a good sign when fan input is appreciated.

I'm looking forward to these minis and hope this joint ADB/Mongoose venture is successful beyond current expectations.

Very interesting, I like the move.

Will the FedComm Border & Squadron Boxes be reissued?

If your speaking of in SL 2500 --

It could be years before all the ships in those products are redone in the new scale ---

If they do get issued that way -- it will be under a new title --
As SL2400s will continue to be sold as long as their being purchased --

Monty,

Yes, my understanding is that the FC squadron and border boxes will be redone with 2500s. Blisters will also be available. So the 2500s will be available just the same way as the 2400s are now, to support SFB, FC & Star Fleet Armada.

There will be other box sets too, I know that Mongoose is planning to do box sets of Klingons, Romulans and Federation for AcTA with a quick-start rulebook in it for AcTA.

It will be about two years before the entire 2400 line is redone, so I believe that the most common ships/most popular ships and empires are being done first.

Monty,

Its late I don't have time to dig up all the quotes. But going from memory the December released are shooting for 3 small fleet boxes identical to FC:Squadron Boxes #1, #2, & #9 for somewhere around 30 bucks. There will also be 3 larger fleet boxes of 16 ships each with a small Rulebook for 99 Dollars.

Will try to remember to dig up quotes tommorrow.
