I'll make you the same deal I made Deidre last week.
I'm cleaning out my extras / duplicates.

I've managed to acquire duplicates of many of the older Captain's logs through various means.
Craigslist, parts of ebay miniatures lots, game store close-outs, etc.

I've been giving them to anyone willing to pay for shipping.
I currently have an extra copy of:
CL 8
CL 9
CL 13
CL 16
CL 49
The Campaign Designers Handbook
and Stellar Shadow Journal #1

Game companies, Game store owners, and other players have been quite generous to me over the years, so I'm not looking to make a profit... just clearing out space and passing along the Star Fleet Universe largess I have received.

If you're interested - they are yours.
If you're in the US - I'd guess shipping to be around $8.

Tony

Just for clarity, I'm Deirdre. I prefer to go by Elizabeth, hence the name. :)

Scoutdad - I'll take all of those! I can pay shipping via Paypal if that's convenient. (I'm in the states, so they can just be book rate shipped)

Anyone know where I can find a Ship Card for a typical Ground Base?

The ground bases were previewed in Captain's Log #43 and then published as laminated cards in Reinforcements Attack.

You can always find out stuff like that the way I looked it up, in the Master Ship Charts, available in the Commander's Circle.
http://www.starfleetgames.com/federatio ... arts.shtml

The primary chart is the one referencing the most-recent Captain's Log (CL #51, for a few more weeks).

Do be aware that the only one of those that has any Federation Commander material at all is Captain's Log 49. The two non-CLs are pure Star Fleet Battles.

That all said, they are great products. Just want to make sure expectations are realistic.

Thanks DJdood!
Reinforcements isn't high on my priority list, but I really want those Ground Base. I may have to look through the PDF's.

Thanks for the heads up mjwest! I figure for the cost of shipping they will be worth a read even though I don't play SFB. Also, that campaign book sounds like MAYBE I could do something FC related with it.

If you *only* want the Ground Bases (for now), another path is to just buy Captain's Log 43. The Ground Bases were previewed there, and I don't think there were any relevant changes between the preview in CL43 and Reinforcements Attack. Reinforcements Attack includes several other cool units and its Boosters are all new ships (instead of mostly reprints like other Booster sets), so it is still worth the buy. But, I thought you might like to know how to just get the Ground Bases.

(Oh, one other cool thing: The CL49 you are getting from Scoutdad includes the Fleet Repair Dock for FC, plus its rules. So, there's that, too. :))

That sounds awesome! (about CL49)

I just found Communique 87, that reprints the Ground Bases article from CL 43! :D
Unfortunately, it does not contain a ship sheet for a ground base. I suppose I could make my own.

On another note, I just used my PDF rulebook to play out a game using the First Missions tokens and maps. 3 Hours and 2 simultaneous High Energy Turns later and the Feds blew up while the D7 was nearly destroyed.

I'm embarrassed it took 3 hours, I had heard a duel takes 1 hour, and this was Fleet level!

That brings me to a story based question, what happens to destroyed ships? Is there a rebuild with a letter or something attached to the name, or is the name entirely replaced?
(I'm a roleplayer, so this is what I think about...)

It's your first time and it sounds like you were playing both sides.

I mean everything is pretty streamlined, so once you get used to it, you'll be playing faster games.

It will really help when I have Reference Cards and a physical rulebook.
I find flipping through a PDF a pain in the butt.
Plus, yeah, I'm totally learning the rules and have to keep checking things.

Playing both sides is a lot funner than I thought it would be.

Hi!

I'm looking at starting FC too, (wasn't sure what the etiquette was on starting a new thread, so sorry for hijacking yours).

I was going to get Academy, some 2500 line ships (I like bigger models) and the corresponding data cards for the ships. I already have a hexed map for other space games.

Is this an OK way to start, or will it cause problems? I was going to pick up the full rules reference book and further ships with the cards at a later date and expand that way.

The reference cards are a huge help, and v. convenient.

The primary problem starting with Academy will cause is that you can't currently buy Graduation to upgrade to a complete Klingon Border. Your best bet for starting out is simply buying Klingon Border. Later you can add Romulan Space. If you really want to (say you want 12 map panels instead of 6) you can buy Romulan Border instead.

But if you get Academy, if you want to upgrade, you'll still have to purchase Klingon Border.

Thanks ElizabethB for your reply.

Will I need the map boards if I already have a nice space map? What are all the counters in the border packs compared to academy? I couldn't tell if they were just ship counters or if they were more necessary to game play from the store description, only that the ones in academy were smaller.

I intend to play with ship models, so I'm not worried about having ship counters, or map boards if I don't need them.

Must say it seems like a lovely welcoming and helpful community here, the willingness to help out clueless new guys like myself is great!

Someone mentioned wanting to read SFU fiction. There have been some good fiction pieces featured in links from the monthly newsletter (that also links to Communique).
