random encounter in TSE

Here is a brief sypnopsis of the random encounter last prepared for the TSE, and recently uncovered as of tonight.... this is going to have interesting effect in the campaign...

Location...TSE forward Mobile base, on the Federation border.

incoming transmission from the freighter Arcanus..............

"we have encountered a derelict vessel in deep space near the recently explored black line of systems that formed a core of unexplored space in the middle of the TSE"

"We are transmitting the images of the ship from our scans"

the commander of the TSE base leaned forward in his command chair as the screen connected with the transmission and began to show the image of what the Arcanus was seeing over 300 light year away...

the image crystalized and became clear..a Romulan War eagle, it was floating on it's axis, the top of the vessle was slowly rotating out of sight and was now beggining to show the painted hull of the ship....

the commander thought, what would a Romulan ship be doing in TSE territory...maybe the wormhole that was discovered that links the TSE to the Klingon empire?

then suddenly the commanders eyes widened...he looked at disbelief at the ship that had turned in space....the freighter captains voice came out over the comm..."do you see that?" "do you?"

what was being looked at had not been seen in ages, not here, not in this universe..

the bottom of the Romulan War Eagle was emblazoned not with the eagle..but a majestic white crane, a Heron....it's white wings stretched out over the base of the hull, the gracefull head ending in the razor sharp beak of the crane poised just under the front of the ship, black and white tail feathers painted to encase the aft engines........the eyes of the great bird painted an icy blue, in the middle of the back of the crane was the Romulan Seal a great Heron it's two wings wrapped around a sheathed sword the hilt of the sword with two worlds incased in the guard...

Romulans from the mirror universe, from where the TSE had come.

"com, patch me through to Fleet command...................

I'm interested to see how it was brought up, and how it will affect the campaign. You make it sound like a mystery  .

thanks, it was brought up to add yet another variable. my idea in terms of how they look and how they will act in the game..so far they are not in the game only a derelict and dead ship...but it is enticing... :-)

the weapons of the Mirror romulans are different as well.

1. the use Gamma Phasers, the same damage as a P-1 but the damage goes directly against the crew (boarding parties) for every 10 pts 1 BP is destroyed, the romulan may also use the gamma phasers to do damage to the ship but in that mode they function as p-2

2. they do not have plasma's but use PPD instead.

how do you convert plasmas to PPD's? The classic conversion system?

turn 11 battle results.

We had two fantastic battles in a row for the empire campaingn, we concluded all the tactical actions for turn 11, and we saw the intorduction for the first time in battle in the campaign for two races, the Kzinti and the Hydrans.

Battle #1:

Kzinti vs. Federation, in this action the Kzinti crossed the federation border in an attempt to take the system world of Sanctuary, a huge terran world that woudl support Kzinti interests, this is the second attempt by the Kziniti to 'liberate' this strategically important wolr don the kzinti and Federation border. The ist attemptr made in turn 5 the Kzinit were badly outmatched and withdrew before the fight escalated, then both governments worked diplomatically to patch over the incident.

on this attempt however with the Federation startfleet strectched thin in it's war versus the TSE, the Kzinti saw an opportunity and took it.

OB: Kzinti 1XNCA,1XCF,1XCM, 1X TSE DW

Federation 1XCC,1XNCF,1XNCL, 1XNDC

The maps we now use are ALL Table top gaming we have a large 6x4 table with black cloth and use minuatures, turn gauges and all miniature rules..this was our first battle converting to this..and by the way WE LOVED IT!

on one far side of the table (fed side) was Sanctuary.

The Kzinti entered from the other side, both fleets moved brilliantly, teh Federation attempted to keep the plant between his CC and numerous kzinti drone swarms targetting on the CC. the Federation player drew the CC away to pull the drones out, this alloed the Kzinti to bring his 4 ships into close action against the 3 remaining federation ships. This action was brutal and hard fought by both fleets, several ships were hit and burinig and at least 4 ships were crippled, and 3 of those 4 having frame hits and needing to go to drydock on the next turn to able to be used on the next campaign turn.

No ships lost, the Kzinit took internals on all four ships with the TSE DW crippled and almost destroyed and the CM lit up with massive internals and criuppled as well. The Federation had the NCF burning out of control and drifting, crippled and almost destroyed and the NCD was also crippled though it took no frame hits, just more than 50% of their total internals.

BOth sides had 2 human players controlling the fleets, and they did great!

Victory Points:
The federation won the battle and pushed the Kzinit back into Theocracy territory.
for the Federation each ship received 14
The Kzinti ships each received 4

I will post the second battle later on today. :-)

That sounds like it was very exciting. I really like the setting of a planet named sanctuary being a bastion of Federation support against incursion. Looks like it was a close fight too. Thanks for sharing it.

Battle #2

In this battle the Hydran Royal Navy kept it's promise to the Federation to exert pressure on the Kziniti or any other enemy of the federation. The Hydrans are adamant that there cannot be a balance of power shift in the Alpha Quadrant (1 of 4 quadtrants based upon the 4 empire maps that make the whole map, Alpha, Beta, Cappa and Delta, I will post the postition so f the races later to allow you to see where each is located)

The Kzinit responded with tremendous force, since the Hydrans had sent thier main battle fleet against the Kzinti, each fleet was built around each of the races incredibly powerful HDN.s

OB:

Hydran: 1xHDN (Hms Triumph) 1XLB, 1XDRG, 3XKN

Kzinti 1XHDN (TTS St. Pallidus) 1XCC, 2XMCD, 2XDW

In this battle we had 4 human players and the GM, the Kzinti and the Hydran fleets once again flew well, each fleet utilizing the unique strategies called for being succesful when engaging. We ran into at least one observation, until they release more fusion armed vessles the Hydras cannot get the true balance of thier fleet structure, while this did not inhibit the hydran strategy it was certainly noticed.

The battle raged for several hours, at the end I ( PM) had to call the game due to a very early morning commitment that I had for Saturday, the battle ended with a draw. the Hydrans withdrew from thier atack, no ships were destroyed.

However the Kzinti managed in turn 1 to score some major shield damage against the lead Hydran ship the Knight DD Assurance. this happened while the hydran fleet was repositioning from a wedge formation to a V formation, with the HDN at the back of the V. the Kzinit fleet flew at sabre dance range and used tons of drones! he had the ability to plave 60 drones into control witht eh HDN and the 2 MCD's!!! the Hydrans did what they do best though, they closed depsite the threat of damage, and then unleased hellbores at range 8-16 depending on the postiion of the ships. and almost destroyed a KZinit DW.

the return fire from the kzinti dropped the shiield of the KN DD Illustrious and scored significant damage. The hYdrans had delpyed the fighter squadrons, the DRG and the Lord Bishop bringing out fighters as drone suppresion units, while the HDN launched the Solarian Attack sqaudron.

however...we were having tremdnous fun, but had to end.

My hat is off to Sir Drake, my esteemed opponent in this game and to his commodore supporting him G, who is also the Federation player.

Working with me was Darc'Tangent the Klingon player, and the Orionplayer gracioulsy volunteered to GM that night.

All players agree that that the inevitable rematch of the Hydran and Kzinit fleets will prove to be aweome.

Regards,

PM

Wyn star cluster
Fomer Seltorian Empire, now disbanded and under Romulan control

Cappa (Kapa) Quadrant Powers: (greek alphabet has both K and C represented by this, and we use a map panel c, so c =Kapa or according to cannanite dialect, Cappa.)

I think Gamma is the third letter of the Greek alphabet.
