Skexis puts a rock between himself and where the shots came from. He then does the same as Marcus.

Skexis is now under cover.

Marcus sees some sort of lizard head sticking up over some rocks 50 yards to the north. It appears to be aiming an energy rifle towards the camp.

Marcus has aimed for one second... and will get his ACC as a bonus to hit if/when he fires.

No one is moving around such that Marcus can take opportunity fire.

Skexis peeks out from behind the rock to aim.

OOC: Can Marcus switch to heavy stun, fire and still get the aim bonus? If so then that is what he wants to do. If not he will fire anyways and hope there is another opponent he can stun.

IC: As soon as Marcus sees the head of this creature he will brace the weapon on the rock he is hiding behind and fire a 3 round burst. (+1 to hit for bracing plus the aiming bonus.)

"Tell me I don't armor," he says, jumping behind cover and returning fire wildly in the general direction of the assailants.

Skexis aims on his move. He has a shot lined up against somebody's head 50 yards north of camp.

Marcus is stuck with whatever he had the phaser set to unless he wants to lose his aim and to-hit bonuses. Otherewise, he has aimed for two seconds now and should bet ACC + 1 bonus to his to-hit roll. Marcus is braced.

Flax is firing wildly to the north. The person (people?) under cover up there will be encouraged to stay down if they aren't already, but other than that there is no effect. [Though the GM will look up the rules for sparying a location with automatic fire to see if Fred's mega-rifle can do anything anyway.]

...

The guy under cover that is shooting at you guys... he... shoots... wait... he's shooting at your riding beasts.... The creatures scream in agony and run off to the southeast!

Captain Jack realizes that this is very bad, and figures it's probably not a bad idea to pull his military surplus tricorder off his back and scan the area for life signs to see how many are around for sure.

Skexis shoots and hopes that he remembered to set his phaser for kill.

OOC: I actually wanted him to fire regardless. I didn't want to miss the opportunity to hit the guy while he was exposed. I specified this in my post.

You sure enough did specify it. I'll fix it.

"Crap! Grab that thing, my phaser rifle is on it..."

He hunkers down, and prepares to return fir in earnest. Or in whomever positions themselves in front of his sight, Ernst or not...

Marcus Fires his phaser at the suspiciously Hilidarian looking head 50 yards to the north that fired the previous turn at the riding lizards.

Pistol is at 14 or less. Phaser-2 is at Acc 5. Aiming extra bonus is +1. Range penalty is -8... but... penalty for the cover and the darkness is [GM fudges here] is -4. This nets out to a required roll of 8 or less on 3d6.

[8 or less hits... (3d6=9)]

No good.

Fred is aiming this turn....

Skexis aims for his second turn to get an extra +1 to-hit.

Captain Jack fiddles with his tricorder-- no information yet!

Rockerig is dismayed and starts attempting to say something amid all of the commotion....

The creature to the north is still visible... you can't tell, but he probably is drawing a bead on a new target...!

What next?!

Captain Jack keeps his phaser ready while trying to get a reading off his tricorder...

Actually... Marcus Kane was bracing when firing... so he had an extra +1 to-hit that I forgot about...!

[GM does not elect you use either Dodge OR HT roll for the Hilidarian-- we seem to have the overall sense of this combat situation, so in the interests of keeping the game moving we will let this hit drop him. I'm declaring optional "Mook" rules as justification.]

Marcus took careful aim... braced... fired... and the Hilidarian slumps to the ground stunned!

You know there were two people shooting at you from up there. The other one is apparently behind the rocks up there, cursing furiously right now.

Rokerig... in the lull of the fire fight... says in an unfortunately loud voice-- "The artifact... it's in my pack on my riding lizard...!!" He then takes of running as fast as he can in the direction where the beasts ran off.

Captain Jack is getting some kind of interference on his tricorder reading right now.... [GM will roll to see if he can parse through it after a few more seconds game time....]
