I am going to recant on my suggestion of earlier today of including all updates to RRB5 through Communique #62 as the rules default.

I am concerned including the Communique #62 updates will introduce some issues because the Communique #62 listing of RRB6 updates to RRB5 is incomplete. For example, there is no mention in the Communiaue #62 update summary that ADDs can now use Defensive Fire against Suicide Shuttles. Yet, the Communique #62 update mentions that offensive fire by ADDs is now allowed against Suicide Shuttles. While I could easily remedy this one issue, I am concerned there may be a few other issues like it that I have not yet identified.

I don't want disadvantage anyone who has not yet purchased RRB6. So, I am going back to my original plan.

RRB5 with all updates through Communique #61 is the default set of rules, but players may mutually agree to play their match using RRB6 instead of RRB5.

The final ship selections are as follows:

Players with Stingers may change their assignment of Stingers to ships between matches.

I get a bonus of some kind for choosing the lowest point fleet, right? :-)

This sounds great, I'm looking forward to the fun!

  1-7 Patrick Doyle (Lyran) vs Storeylf (Hydran)
  1-8 Krellex (Klingon) vs Brazouck (Federation)
All players should have received an e-mail from me with additional information.

All matches need to be completed and reported to Garrett and I by Thursday, March 10th.

For those opponents that are separated by a large time zone difference, please try to be flexible on weekends as that will likely be the only time you will be able to play your match. In scheduling your matches, players should expect each turn to potentially take up to an hour to complete. So, a full game could take six hours. However, you can spread that time over several sesssions.

Good luck to all and have fun!

Clarifications on my Romulan opponent, VulcanDropout (BTW: appropriate name, as the Roms are literally an Empire of Vulcan Dropouts).

First, I want to make sure I have the right cards, as the counter abbreviations are missing on most cards.

SP = Sparrowhawk Light Cruiser (card 58)
SPM = Sparrowhawk-M Escort Cruiser (card 923)
NHK = NovaHawk (card B12).

If those are correct, what product is the NHK from? (I found it, booster 9, if the NovaHawk is right).

Also, the SPM can't use its AEGIS ability, no?

Thanks.

He has a Novahawk, Sparrowhawk Light Cruiser and Sparrowhawk-M Escort Cruiser. Yes, they are B12, 58 and 923, respectively. B12 is from Booster #9. 58 is from Romulan Attack. The Sparrowhawk-M is from Booster #92.

Per the tournament rules, no AEGIS targeting regardless of whether you are playing with RRB5 or RRB6 (the restriction was inherited from a Origins 2010 tournament clarification) .

Patrick Doyle Lyran DN CA DWH
Whats a Lyran DWH? I have a DW card, but the only DWH I can find is the hydran one. Is that just a typo?

Yes, there is a typo. It should have been a DW. I have corrected it above.

Just a quick note (aimed at the other hydran mainly).

Just been playing with stinger launch, and I can't seem to set anything other than facing D on launch. So it looks like I will have to launch then change facing.

It also to appears that the client doesn't register stingers using EM, so that may have to be tracked manually.

If any one knows the client better and knows how to work them then let me know please.

Sarpeidon has changed his FC Forum username to Jiraiya1969 -- the same name he uses in FC Online. I have udpated the roster and matchup lists above to reflect this change. I will send updated PDFs to all participants on Monday.

We have had our first result reported.

Paul Scott's Hydrans have defeated Orgyockbo's Tholians in Match 1-6.

Paul is awarded 2 points for his victory in Round 1.

As an aside, players should remember that if you want Garrett and I to have a record of your effort to schedule your match, you need to CC us on the those scheduling emails. Those emails are also helpful to us because they help us to keep track of how far everyone is along in regard to completing their respective matches. Thanks.

Any chance of a basic overview of the game:

Turns lasted, points each side scored, state of ships at end (pristine, damaged, crippled, dead). Not an AAR, but just something to provide everyone with an idea how each fleet is managing.

I would encourage folks to do so. If it is short, it can go here. If it is a full AAR, you can post it under a new topic and place a link to it here.
