Paul's Tholian wins our game, against my gorns, crippling two of my three ships with only a lab destroy on his ships (if I remember well).

For the record with Archer and Jim's blessing, swapped out the D7 for the D5W (missed the bit where the Klingons costed less in the FCOL 3rd tourney).

Pinecone and I got started today.
Turn 1 (not counting the one "fake" turn for the HB arming) ended with us 16 hexes apart and neither firing.
Turn 2 Pinecone fired his BC and DD at one of my tarters at r7. Half the photons hit and that and phaser fire caused a few internals

I returned with 3 OL HB at all but the phaser G at his destroyer. All the HB hit. He launched plasmas at my fighters on that impulse. I kept moving forward with my intact ships, turning off the the hurt tarter. He turned the BC off in the opposite direction. Next impulse I was 1 hex off his DD and NCL with my other tarter, 2 hexes off with my two lancers and 3 hexes off with my four fighters. He dumped on my r1 tarter and I dumped all but one fighter on his NCL. It was overkill. If I had fired on the DD with my lancers, I'm pretty sure I woudl have won the game by now. I killed off the NCL and the tarter (I'll call it the r1 tarter) had very few boxes left. The fighters were killed by Pl-F. Those brave souls fired the ph-G at ships and not in their own defense. During the rest of the turn my lancers and the r7 tarter went after the BC and he the DD went after the r1 tarter.
I'm fuzzy on turn 3. I know DD killed off the r1 tarter and I did hurt the BC and he did quit a few internals on one of my lancers. I do remember lanching a SS at the BC that had HET and cancelled move (so it had to move forward next pulse.) I regret that I had but one shuttle to give. A SS is also what killed off my r1 tarter later that turn.
On 4.1, my remaining 3 ships converged around the BC. The other tarter was killed but it and one of the lancers did serious damage to the BC. 4.1 ended with my lancer tractoring the BC and both of us wondering what the rest of 4 and 5 will bring.
His BC and my Lancers are in the bottom right. His BC has 1 photon (fired on 4.1), one plasma-F (fired as carronade)1 probe, 1 shuttle, 5 control spaces, and 18 power generating spaces and 1 power available. Hid DD is 12 spaces away. Its missing a ph1, both phaser 3 and both photons. The torps will be available next turn. He still has a lot of shield damage but no down shields.
One of my lancers is untouched. The BC is off its LR arc and that phG and the p1 has fired. It is the one that has the BC tractored. My other lancer did not fire (it's trying to get to an open shield.) It has both ph-G and the ph-1 left. it has 8 warp, 1 reactor and 7 other boxes left.
I think I have the advantage as I can put more internals on that BC, but I'm worried about those 2 pl-F and 5 p1 coming up.
Please hold comments on this post as the game is ongoing. Pinecone is exempt. He is quite welcome to correct my swiss cheese memory.

That's pretty much what happened. On turn three my BC was badly damaged (It carronaded and phasered one of the lancer, hurting it badly, but I took more than I gave) but it still had enough energy to kill the second tartar on turn four (Man is it a tough ship!). Now the DD is circling back to rejoin the fight, so this is how it stands:

He certainly has the advantage, but the lancer witout it's fighters is not the best of DDs. I may yet prevail.
All in all a great battle though, and I think we have both learned some things.

Garrett vs. Jim (Kilingons vs. Orions)
It was a long, great slugfest! Both sides were battered to tatters. In the end (helped greatly by the Jim's Orion fleet missing one entire photon volley), Garrett's Klingon fleet fought to victory in 9 grueling turns. Of course, there really wasn't much of a Klingon fleet left after that!
Jim, an excellent game, I had a great time. Thanks!

For a dropout, that Vulcan shows amazing military poweress. He forced my squadron to honorably surrender in the face of sure destruction. Though I had a brief glimpse of hope by brinnging two full PL-Fs into arc, but a pair of Gatling phasers ripped into my hull and blew one launcher off of the ship. the other Pl-F was unable to score enough damage through the down shield to rectify the situation.
So Phillip has won his first round, and I have fallen in defeat.

Even if you lost the launcher you could still launch the plasma up to the end of the turn if it was already fully armed.

It was a fantastic game. One of my most memorable so far.
Turn 8 was the moment of truth.
At its start I had 255 VPs to Garrett's 223 VPs. I had left a BR with very light engine damage and two gutted, but functioning, DBRs. Garrett only had left his C7, which only had some limited shield damage.
I manage to maneuver within 4 hexes of his #2 shield (which was missing 3 boxes) with a total of four double overloaded Photons ready to go (two from the BR and one each from the DBRs). Garrett then declared EM. I immediately alpha'd him and he split his return fire on the two DBRs (which have weak shields and pretty much no batteries left).
ALL FOUR OF MY PHOTONS MISSED AT FOUR HEXES!
I think there is only something like a 1.2% (0.33333^4) chance of that happening!
I did inflict 21 points of damage from my Phasers, but without at least one of the Photons coming through it was not enough to get completely through the C7's #2 Shield and cause some serious damage.
He inflicted a good amount of damage to my DBRs bringing them to the point that when I did my Turn 9 Energy Allocation I was in trouble.
I should have went ahead and engine doubled on that reload turn (Turn 9) to keep my distance. It shortly became clear my two DBRs were doomed and I would only have my BR versus his lightly damaged C7 on Turn 10. He then blew up my two DBRs and a I resigned.
Regardless, Garrett played very well and was able to take full advantage of the opportunity opened up by those clearly DEFECTIVE, clearly Federation PLANTED, Photons. It really gives the black market a bad name.
One thing I will also say is that the ability of the C7 to reload a full rack of drones and a partial per turn helped Garrett near the end as well. The three turns he didn't have drones (or only a rack or two) really hurt him as I was able to sit in EM during most if not all of two photon reload turns. Stealth and EM are a nasty combination. However, by Turn 9 I was no longer able to get a way with this because he had at least three drone racks back.

Wow, that rule completely slipped my mind, but you're right. Still, The difference would've been minor. with two partially-functioning lancers he could kill my one partially-functioning destroyer.
