Monty - no special recipe. This is an enamel wash (AK Interactive Dark Brown) over acrylic paint. It is a good product; easy to use and gives consistent results.

I no sooner finish the last placement guide we needed for the Fleet Box decal sets, then I get a shipping notification for the Starline 2500 War Destroyers I've had on order since last November... no rest for me. Not a bad problem to have though.

Just a quick update to note that Tenneshington Decals has struck a deal with Jim Lewis (www.guntruck.com), to use his photography of his excellent application of our decals. A preliminary image is already on our website.

Tony and I are both months away from bring able to completely finish and detail any of our minis. I regretted not being able to show folks how nice the decals can look. Jim's photos do a great job of that and we thank him.

The Tenneshington website has received yet another refresh, to better incorporate Jim Lewis' photography and prepare the site for the second Squadron Box decal sheet, which we will be able to offer soon.

I received my Federation war destroyer minis this afternoon, and we will be able to offer decals for that mini by early next week.

Preparation of the art for decals to go on the Federation war destroyer miniature are well-underway.

In the process of doing that, I've spent a lot of time admiring the new DW mini.

The saucer is a little larger than that on the FF (which is a nice touch and gives the ship the extra room it should have). The parts breakdown is well thought out and it should assemble into a stout little game piece.

The grid lines, etc, are as crisp as could be. It really is exceptional.

There was a l-o-n-g wait for it, but I would say worth it in the end.

If the NCL and NCA end up being as nice, we're in for a treat. I'm already considering "re-buying" my Feds in metal.

I'd "re-purpose" my unbuilt/unpainted resin Feds to kitbash parts duty.

I know I'm going to want a classic Franz Joseph dreadnought, destroyer, scout, and tug.

I also would probably do at least one of my U.S.S. Decatur-inspired conversions of the Fed CS (with the upswept engine struts mounted on the bottom of the engineering hull) and probably a U.S.S. Surya (TOS-era "Reliant") inspired mini or two.

I'm also thinking about modifying my Klingon C-7s, to flare out their booms to better match the SL2400 mini (which has a "dreadnought" looking flared boom). I'll also probably extend the deckhouse on my D5Ws, to give them the extra size I think they should have.

Ain't that the truth. I've been waiting 3+ weeks for my Fed ships to be shipped.

I'd love to have some Fed DD to play with, but don't have the spare parts lying around to make some.

Well, I ordered my DWs at the same time I ordered my Fed fleet box, in the beginning of December 2011...

Regardless, I'm glad they're here now. I did notice one flaw I'll be fixing on the DW though; despite it getting pointed out a couple of times, the bridge dome is too small (making the ship look larger than it really is). Easy enough to file off and replace with styrene at the appropriate size.

Here some photos of my most recent Starline 2500 mini wearing custom Tenneshington Decals. No issues with decal placement - a lot of fun and they really enhanced my enjoyment of putting together and finishing this resin mini. I took advantage of the extra decal options provided too. I tried some different ideas painting this mini, and wanted to emulate some details from the classic painting guide for Fed Minis. The high-quality decals really make a rough mini stand out.

I ordered a Squadron Box #7 (Federation Reinforcements) and it is on its way to me. I would hope that we can have decals for the NCL new light cruiser and NCA new heavy cruiser done in the next couple of weeks. Once those are ready, we will have available a decal set to work with the box set (the DW was done last week and is available now as an individual set.
