Captain Jack points to sub-hex #0706 and points out that: "That Fed Science Outpost is relatively new... in that area is some strange, unexplained space occurrences. We should stay away from there."

Muankaal punches some stuff up on the computer and corroborates Captain Jack's claims.
To keep everything straight, here is a summary of the information y'all have so far on hex 1907. (This info is cross-posted
here for future reference.)
1907-(0601) -- This was a Kzinti mine that went bust and was sold to the Federation. This is Skexis' birth world.
1907's Central nebula -- Captain Jack saw some freaky stuff here back when he was serving on the OCL USS Suffolk.
1907-(0706) -- The Federation science outpost is positioned to study and observe disturbances in the space-time continuum that purportedly occur here.
1907-(0804) -- Not even Captain Jack knew about this particular smuggler's base.

[OOC] Yes, that is correct. [/OOC]
Captain Jack reminds everyone: "Also, the only difference between a Star Fleet Science Outpost and a Military Outpost is who happens to be there on that day..."

During downtime on the voyage, Skexis explains that his people, the Kriss, got into a war with the Kzinti over natural resources. It simmered to an uneasy peace with skirmishes between the two races. Some of the Kriss left. Skexis ended up working as a mercenary based out of Donjebruche.
"I vote that we head away from the federation space til things have blown over."

Marcus looking more irritated than thye are used to...perhaps from the close proximaty and extended exposure to Klingons. "I don't care were we go."

[It sounds like folks want to stay out of Federation space for a while... but not necessarily head out to Mad Jack's Hole or the Kzinti Noble's world. Mu and the other five interdicted worlds are on hold, then. Therefore... the party will check out this smuggler's base (instead of hiding on Muankaal's Corvette) and will probably ask Maunkaal to take them to some other world in Hex 1907 depending on what happens next.]
[GM cues up Adventure 2 Scene 3... The Smuggler's Outpost in hex 1907.]
Muankaal's Corvette arrives at the Smuggler's Base-- a "lost world," a terrestrial planet that got stripped away from its solar system some millenia ago. It's not too far from the Federation border and lies in a place where there is little starship traffic.
A large panel opens up on the world's cratered surface... and the E3 lands in a snug berth. The berth next to you contains an Orion Light Raider. As the panel closes back, you realize that no one would ever find you here....
Muankaal signals his crew to immediately begin unloading the cargo. As you leave the ship he says to you, "there's probably not much to see here, but there's always the tavern." He looks you all up and down and says, "do try to keep as low of a profile as you can manage...!"
[Edit: If y'all want to do something different than what my reading of your conversation is... go for it! (I just realized I might have stepped on Captain Jack if he really really really wanted to go to the Mu system.) Hash it out or else explore the smuggler's base...!]

"Come on Marcus, I'm sure I owe you a drink..." says Captain Jack while he starts to look for the tavern...

Skexis goes off on his own to explore the lay of the land, see who's around, etc.

Skexis
is on the prowl.
He sees some Slirdarian crew from Muankaal's Corvette struggling with some particularly heavy crates. A Dunkar accountant scolds them, "careful... we're on the hook for any damages right up until the buyer takes possession!"
Skexis may choose to discreetly follow them or else follow a small group of Kriss that were heading down a passageway that has very little foot traffic. (You could tell they were Kriss because they had long tails. Kzinti and Lyrans don't.)

[With Marcus's consent,] Captain Jack and Marcus make a bee line for the tavern.
The place is so full of smoke, you can barely see or breath. There are bored dancing girls from a variety of species in force field chambers. The prices for drinks are exorbitant. You sense no threats or danger-- perhaps some unwritten code prevents open aggression or stupidity at this locale given the diverse nature of its clientele.

Captain Jack buys a drink for himself and Marcus, and sits down to listen to any chatter around them...

As you sip your drinks, you gather little information of interest from the tavern goers. They really seem to keep to themselves.
After a while... a disheveled, middle aged human enters the bar. He orders a double Andorian whiskey and nervously looks around the room. You catch him checking you out a couple of times... when finally he walks over to your table and asks to join you.

It's so dark and smokey, it's hard to tell. The most immediate humanoids are Orion, Andorian, and Klingon. There's few felinoids... as well as some more outlandish creatures.
