They have announced they are accepting pre-orders on the Mongoose web-site. When will ABD be accepting pre-orders?

We won't accept pre-orders until sometime in November.

It does not matter where you order or pre-order it, you'll get it the same day and ADB will get the same number of dollars.

I agree; the disruptor fire should probably be fixed.

Still looks good, though!

Steve,

My largest concern is shipping. Domestic verses from the UK. Man, I've gotten cheap over the years, geez. :?

Mongoose ships US orders from their warehouse in Ohio. I think.

So for those that have been playtesting, will I be able to use the wonderful ADB. Inc. plasma minis, or are they just dice rolls?

The minis can certainly be used. Plasma torps have a set number of Attack Dice [AD] determined by the torpedo type (for example, Type Rs have 5 AD, Type S have 4, etc.) When a torpedo is launched, the rules recommned placing one plasma torpedo counter (or mini) for each AD launched. At the end of each turn, one counter (or mini) is removed. Each successful hit with a phaser will also remove one counter (or mini). When they finally impact, you roll one AD for each counter (or mini) remining that impacts the target.

Trust me, it works much simpler than it sounds...

The plasma-R seems to be lacking it's "big stick" factor, if it is only on AD bigger than the S. Not nearly as scary as it is in SFB/FC.

But less chance to defend, too. And plasma torps have a trait called "multihit"
Every attack die that hits the target, actually scores 1d6 points.
That's an average of 5 AD * 3.5 hits = 17.5 hits from a single Plasma R. When the Fed Ca can only take 32 points before blowing up, that's a good chunk of it. And heaven forbid you getthe Yahtzee roll and do 6 points for each of the 5 AD. that's a potential of 30 points right there. Add in 2 Plasma Fs and the phasers from a Romulan KE and the R still can be a "big stick"

To keep map clutter down, it would be and good chance to use the "Dice Chair" method of tracking AD. Yes?

That's the way we've been doing it during our playtest games.

Has the core system changed much since the B5 days? I read that attack dice are still used, but are they still used against the target's hull or has that changed?
