I finished the two APTs this evening. It's a bit late to take good photos of them, but here's a sneak peek:

Tomorrow after work, I'll set-up the camera outside and take some good photos and upload them.[/url]

Hah! You cheated and posted pics, when you teased and said you wouldn't until tomorrow.

These look great. Better than mine. I like the dry-brushed highlights.

It's amazing how two people, with the same mini, and even the same decals, can get different looks.

Great work, as always!

There appears to be some sort of giant space worms in the picture as well, very lifelike.

unfortunately, no. The giants space worms in the referenced photograph couldn't carry a tune if it had a handle (as anyone who's ever been present at the Origins SFU sing-along can attest to!)

So sue me! with todays litigious society - you'd probably win.

Thanks, although I wouldn't necessarily say they look better than yours - just a bit different.
I took longer than usual with these and had some fun. They have a base coat of titanium white, followed by a very thin wash of light ghost grey. I then added a few panels lines / hatches with an artist pencil and dry-brushed / highlighted the hull with whicker white.
All of the smaller details are also dry-brushed with a correspondingly lighter hue... engine radiators, warp exhausts, dome, etc.
I must admit though, having a set of your decals really sets it off.

It's be interesting to set them side-by-side on a table sometime, just to see how different they actually are...

Clearer photos. Cool.

I like the blue on the round front-detail. I treated it as a sensor-dish and went copper on mine.

It probably should be copper - but I liked the TNG'ish blue for a deflector dish to tie it in with the blue dome.

I think the blue brings out the color of my eyes  !
Actually, I think it is cool that you painted the sensors blue, they stand out. Djdood's APT also looks really good. Did you two plan this?

Planning would involve me being organized, which is sadly far from the truth.

Tony, on the other hand, has his stuff together.

His ideas, some of mine, my drawing in FreeHand, his printing.

Perhaps the Blue deflector dish means X-APT's?

Actually - that's not a bad idea. I'll pick up another APT of two while in Columbus and paint them with a copper dish (APT's), then these two will magically upgrade to APX's.

Thanks, pinecone

We'll shucks. If I'd known you were going to do XAPT's, I should've added some "go fast" stripes to the sheet. Oh well. ;)

Heh.

I was digging through my old "homebrew decals" thread and found THIS image I had posted. This was an early stage of the decal's development. The final sheet ended up more tightly packed and had lots and lots of Good-Stuffâ„¢ added from Tony's suggestions.
