How does the Deathprobe tractor auction if it is tractored, since it does not keep track of power.

any thoughts on this one? or is it just something that is so painfully obvious that I should 'get it'

I haven't gotten my copy of DK yet (I'll pick it up at Origins), but I do still have the play test rules. I must admit, that one never came up. I'll try to find a chance to ask about this one while there.

I'll have internet access on and off most days, so if I get an answer - I'll post it immediately.

I'm clueless on that one...my DK should arrive next week. Hopefully, Scoutdad can get an answer at Origins.

thanks gentlemen,

this came up in the fed campaign, when on a random encounter the Death Probe had attacked the Romulans and then successfully disengaged, and then moved on to attack the Klingon Empire. the Klingons finally destroyed it, but at one time it looked like the Death Probe was going to get off the map and the B-10 tried to tractor it, and we looked at each other in confusion when the player who was running the Death Probe asked how he tractor auctioned the attempt to be tractored from the B-10.

Regards!

The Death probe is in romulan Attack, not DK.

Dang. He's right it's not in DK. I've been so concentrating on DK that I forgot where we got the Death Probe. Either way, I'll still ask SVC about he tractor auction issue...

Wait, I just remebered, it's in Tholian Attack, not romulan Attack or distant kingdoms.

Final Answer.

The Death Probe has no tractor beams. But I am rather new to the game, do you need a tractor beam to participate in the auction?

I don't think you do, at least not for a negative tractor function. Certainly, doing negative tractor does not force you so use a tractor beam on your ship - and it doesn't say that you have to drop a tractor if you're already using them all.

In SFB, it was something that the energy did to your hull plating, almost as if it makes it less stickable, if you see what I mean. This is most likely the case in FedCommander.

I'm gonna go with the SFB rule in this case: No "living" monster may be tractored. In fact, no monters without power systems AND tractor boxes may be tractored.

Of the current set of monsters, only the Juggernaught and the Planet Killer could be tractored. The rest (including the Death Probe) cannot be tractored.
