I always hate posting these because the details get washed out and they looks like a sloppy mess but anyway, here goes.

Those look great! I see some nice wash work on them - good sense of depth.
The nacelle caps on the CA almost look like jewels.
The gold on the Romulan is a nice touch I haven't seen before.
You have really nice fine detail paint work - you must have a steady hand.

well its interesting because IRL I am a 3d artist in the game biz. But you dont need always need a steady hand unless u need to draw on a tablet, and even then you have undo
With minis I am really challenged and after having worked on about 20 so far I only have 5 or 6 that I even dare show. It will probbaly be a while before I am really satisfied with the work I am doing.
But I thankyou for the reply, these are so far my favorites.

I'm never completely happy with mine, but I've learned to just let them go once I have invested "x" amount of effort into them. What value "x" is varies with the mini, my mood, real-life, etc. There's a certain standard I won't allow myself to go below, and a bar a strive to reach (but have never hit).
If I get as good as John Schneder or Mike Raper someday, I can be a happy guy.
[EDITED to correct my goof on John's last-name. Doh!]

Thats what i always think when John is mentioned too. And I love those warp nacelles BTW.
Also what wash work? (I am not sure what that is so i am curious.)
I just started painting two border boxes worth of mini's and I have never done any before, mostly working on the feds tholians and Klingons. Alas I am color blind though I picked panzer grey for my klinks (which looks more gorn colored) metallix copper for the tholians and silver for the Romulans (at least the older ones too reflect the armor). Sorry think I am hijacking here.

Every time I type John's name, I manage to mangle it like that. Doh!
John Schneder II, is one of the main sculptors for the minis and is also one of the best painters around.

I'll let pneumonic81 answer if he did washes or not, but I'm thinking he did.
Washes are explained in this thread

Yeah washes are pretty simple and they add a sort of depth shadow to your model. it can really make elements pop. and the more detail the mini has, the better the effect of the wash.
To do a wash is very simple. i use grey, black or brown usually. a dark color at any rate. i cut it down with water to the consistance of ink. then I add clear acrylic floor wax (yes floor wax!) to thicken it back up. what this gives me is a somewhat thicker wash that adheres to the surface and doesnt run, but still flows evenly into cracks. I have tried just water washes, dry brushing, etc. personally this is my fav method.

Future is great stuff. "Magic wash" is aptly named.

Nice work. I like the saucer arcs/flashes on the sides of the CA. And I really like the K7R. The whole scheme is different than what I've seen (or at least what I remember), and very Romulan.
Just one question--what decals did you use for the CA, Starfighter, other, or custom?
