Fighters and drones MKII

Hello again,
Here is my 2nd take on missiles and drones. On my first try I based them on pennies, an old fall back of mine. This time I went with mini poker chips that I also got from AS&S that are exactly the same diameter as a penny, about 13/16th of a inch. I got the new chips after I based the first set of fighters and drones but before the campaign game fight between the Hydrans and the Kzinti so you can see some of the poker chips in use in those pics. I like the weight of the pennies but they slide of the poker chips to easy. The poker chips lightly lock together which is nice but the texture makes painting them harder. I the pictures some of the chips are black on top and repainted white on the sides (the white need a second coat, it looked ok until I clear coated them!) and three have the bumps on the top high lighted white to make Kind of a star like background. I am not sure how I like them yet and they didn’t come out in the pics well at all. I game terms each white chip represents one fighter or drone while one red chip equals five. An idea I took from Axis and Allies. It worked great in the battle which was a great test with 60 drones and 14 fighters on the table at one time! All the painting is free hand work messing about with different paint schemes to see what looks best and get many different types for easier identification. Hope you enjoy!

The fighters look ace.

The drones look pretty big - almost like Tachyon Missiles (as seen in Adam's art for Omega Five) - but I guess you wouldn't want them to be too small!

Call me dense, but I have wondered how you would fit a bunch of drones or even 3 fighters into one hex... Now I understand! It's the number of chips underneath that determine how many there are.

Nice job, Sir Drake.

I also approve of the method used for determining numbers of drones / fighters in the hexes. I have A&A and that solution never occured to me.

Those are still the Buck Rogers plastic game pieces, right? Amazing how much they improve with a good paint job!

Aye still the same cheap plastic models. The drones are just the fighters with the wings clipped and rolled over. Just new bases and new paint jobs. I think I get more satisfaction out of making bad figs look good than painting a high quality fig
