Captain's Log What Now?

Ran into something a little strange today.

I went into GamesHQ in Oklahoma City to pick up a copy of Captains Log 37 and spotted several typos in the book as soon as I opened it.

As a matter of fact the whole book was a typo. While the covers were for CL 37 the interior of the book was the SSD book for Module R11.

Anyone else ran into this problem?

You're not the first person to report this issue. If you'll email Leanna Cole (sales@starfleetgames.com), she'll make it right for you.

Didn't buy the book but I did point it out to the owner/operator who said he would look into it.

I don't want to harp on anything that ADB does, I love it all, but I noticed that some of the SSDs in the back of my "new" copy of CL36 (yes, 36) don't have ship drawings on them--it's as if the printer wasn't set to a high enough contrast. They're still useable, since the boxes came out relatively well. Has anyone else seen this "problem".

I noticed something else wrong about captian's log 37: No fleet scale ships for any of the WYN conversions, or for the Klingon Strike cruiser.

pinecone:
Look in the top black bar in each of the WYN conversions. See the SFB rule reference number and the lack of the words "Federation Commander"? These are "hybrid" SSDs - designed for use in either SFB or Fed Comm. Fleet scale doesn't exist in SFB and Capt Log had a limited amount of space - hence no fleet scale version.
The "limited space" is the whole reason the hybrid design was created. Rather than the eight pages being used for 8 ships usable in either game, we could have had 4 SFB ships and 2 FC ships (in both scales) on those 8 pages...

As for the fleet scale Klingon - look on page 113, the reverse of the Squadron scale Strike Cruiser. The fleet scale version is here, it's just listed as a Klingon Strike Carrier. Same ship - error in the naming box. That's one that'll be corrected if / when these cards are officially produced.

Actually, the wyn conversions in CL37 are not for FC at all, but are pure SFB SSDs and lack the needed information to use them in FedComm.

The R11 thing. I don't know how that happened (it's impossible for it to have happened, but it did happen, so it's not as impossible as I thought it was). If you spot a defective product in a store, tell the store to call Leanna 806-351-1950 and she'll take care of it.

The "gray ship behind the boxes" is a constant challenge for the Kyoceras and we continue to develop ways to make sure it works consistently.

That's what I get for answering from memory. I just got home and checked...

Yep! Steve Cole was correct... again! :)
The WYN conversion SSD's are purely SFB designs. They are done in the new "block 5" format, not the older more familiar format. That's why my memory was playing tricks on me and making me think they were "hybrids".

Sorry for the bad info, pinecone.

going to bedroom ... getting CL37 ... sitting down at computer ... opening book ... ...

Ah I see. Mis classifying of the D7V in squad. This only leaves one fleet scale ship for both the D7V and SD7, though.

You are correct that there is no fleet scale representation of the SD-7.

Maybe in a Communique?

Perhaps, if it is requested.

.I wasn't sure if the next issue was finished, but it could go into the next next issue or the next next next issue, or even the next next next next issue if came to that :) .
