So, neither the ships nor the phots came out as I would have liked (see early message about hits and misses) but they look good at arms distance.

And I'd love to see more of that War Eagle. I can see the feathers on the edges, do you have a bird on the bottom? Is it hand painted?

The "battle scene" is just a vignette to get the ships in the picture. I try to keep my Klingons 15 hexes away from photon armed vessels! Of course, the Feds have different plans.

I do like how the Klingons came out, especailly since one's eye does not discern the shading as starkly as the camera.

The War Eagle has a hand painted bird on the ventral surface, hand painted, but I do not have photo. Its a brown shadow with gold lines (outline, feather lines, etc). It's OK.

Hey man they look sweet to me. Hope mine can turn out as decent. I'm not good with the hand painted things.

THOUGH. You know for flames of war, I'm using a white gel pen to write names of vehicles onto my tanks. That might be an idea to use in conjunction with ADB miniatures. Could write something on where no decal is available. (like those gorn symbols maybe . . . hmmn that's a good idea).

One of my friends uses a fine black paint pen to write the NCC nos. on his Fed. figures. I thought about it but I don't think mine would turn out too good. I bought some decals for the FJ ships several years ago and promptly misplaced them. Maybe they'll turn up someday and still be good.

I've used ultra fine technical pens to letter / detail minis in the past. It works well until it comes time for the sealant.

It seems that the solvents in the aerosol sealant always cause the ink to "bleed"

I generally don't seal my figures, just paint them with enamel model paint. Only time I've done anything like that was when I was out of flat paint and used gloss ones, then sprayed on dullcote.

I used the gel pen on some Shermans, to paint the names on there. And when I sprayed the dullcoat spray on there it was not affected whatsoever. Looks the same. So maybe try out the Gel Pen. Should do the trick. Should be able to find some individual colours at an art store or something.
