Clever ideas for speeding things up

Tony L. Thomas posted this in another thread:
We have a high-speed Damage Allocator (an 18 compartment plastic organizer). Each compartment has 3 pairs of 12mil dice... 1 pair red, 1 pair white, 1 pair blue and the lid is superglued shut. Roll to hit, determine damage from the weapons chart... then shake the damage allocator once and set it down. Read compartments from R to L, Top to Bottom, Red-White-then Blue pairs until you're out of damage. 54 points can be scored in one roll.
...which I think is such a cool idea I'm going to steal it. You could also use this idea for weapons. E.g. "blue is heavy weapons, red is phaser-1..."

Anyone have other clever ideas for speeding up FC even more?

Hmm... clever.

My group already uses different size and color dice for weapons (big blue for photons, big gray for Ph-1, little gray for Ph-3, etc.), but this takes it one step further.

I was going to be buying more dice anyways. I might have to pick up a bunch of colors of tiny D6's and try this.

You're not a real gamer if you don't have a 'dice collection'. I've got a big tackle box-type storage box with the clear removable divided storage trays, all full of dice of all shapes, sizes and colors.

I'm still rocking the "Crown Royal Bag" for my dice, which seems to be a right of passage for gamers. I might have to go to a box if I get too many more.

How would you classify me???

I have a Crown Royal bag with my DND dice in it...
A plastic bin full of D6s for misc wargames...
A plastic bin with color coded dice for SFB / FC (i.e., my Fed dice are the ADB Fed dice, supplemented with additional blue dice w/black pips... and so on for all the races.)
My F&E box has color coded dice and custom Chessx VBIR dice in the racial colors...
plus, I have a "brick" of 6mm dice in assorted colors used for SFB markers (i.e., turn points... number of drones in a hex... no of figters in a hex... hex strength... etc.)

Am I a real gamer?
A power Gamer?
A geek?
An idiot?
Or, all of the above?

In the groups I've gamed with, we tend to use the term 'hardcore' gamer. I think you'd fit the description. Of course, you also have to see the sun coming up on your way home a lot

I can go one better...

I got really lucky and married a gamer. When we were young and newly-wedded, we'd have all weekend DND Sessions. We'd start FRiday evening and play through until Sunday afternoon. She'd cook large meals for everyone to share, and when someone got tired... they'd go crash on the bed while someone else ran their character.

You goota enjoy gamer wives!!!!!

I will go you one better, Leanna is a published game designer and her one published game (no longer on the market) outsold all but three of the games I have designed.
