Conventions back in the day...

I was reading an old Captain's Log... maybe #8 or #12... and it had a full page of conventions listed with their SFB tournament results. Maybe 30 or 40 in a six month period.
That's mind boggling.
I guess that's what gaming was like pre-MMORPG and pre-CCG.

That reminds me of a t-shirt I saw at Origins:
M - many
M - men
O - online
R - role
P - playing
G - girls...
You had to laugh at the visual imagery it generated...
Which is just one more reason I prefer face-to-face gaming against a real live opponent!

OMG ScoutDad that is perfect. I told my wife (who plays guild wars with me and who I am working on FC with) and she laughed forever. Kept thinking of all of those times online where she kept having to say 'no really, I am a girl and we are really married!'

Guild Wars is the only video game my wife ever got into playing with me. She's usually a puzzle-games gal. I was happy to get a chance to do one of "my games" with her.
