My favorite kitbash (so far)

Here’s one of my favorite kitbashes: Federation Corps of Engineers ship USS Tesla, towing a COE container. Just what the doctor ordered for making field repairs at a distant outpost!

Nice... but you're gonna love the new Federation LTT miniature I'm sending to ADB!

An interesting use of the FASA Loknar mini.

I never really liked the design, but for some reason, I bought a zillion of 'em. Being "surplus to need," they make an excellent basis for kitbashing. I think I switched out the engines, but I don't recall. I know I bought a kitbash pack at about the time I was working on it.

Another model that screams to be modified is the old light cruiser. It’s easy to imagine that quite a few could have been decommissioned and sold, then modified to begin a new life in the civilian sector. I have the equivalent of a “tramp steamer based on the OCL; it's only waiting for decals.

I've been hard at work modifying old CL minis too, but in a different direction.

Cool idea. Good to see the old FASA minis get out some more. Different application too--most minis out there are warships (it is a WAR game after all. :) )

Where did those decals come from?

djdood, the oCA is AMAZING! I generally feel I've had a good modeling day if I haven't superglued the cat to my forehead. OK, it's not that bad, but I usually visualize better than I execute.

OGOPTIMUS, I do tend to have my fair share of auxilliaries; a fleet needs more than warships and a few tugs. Civilians have their place, too:

I've designed "Universal Parcel Service" too, but the letters are so tiny that they don't show up over UPS brown.

Not an extensive kitbash, but I like the backstory

Take the engine off a FASA USS Nelson, add the extra engines from a DDWH, shape some green stuff as an interface, and voila: diplomatic cruiser USS Surak (NCC-1015) (from my sheet F19A).

Crude by the standards of many, but I just love this ship!

Coventry class FFH/GSC USS Columbia (NCC-1810), about five years or so before the refit to Miranda specifications. This is my third attempt, and the only one to make it to the paint/decal stage.

Sheesh! Looks like I need some touchups around the intercooler fins.

I had a devil of a time on the superstructure on either side of the bridge. I just couldn't get the angle from the center line and the vertical angle from the plane of the saucer right. Eventially, I'll have a mini Kahn would be proud of!
