Regenerating shield boxes.

Is there a limit to the number of shield boxes you can regenerate in a turn, or is it just limited by how much power you choose to spend on it?

Available power is the only limit.

I once wrote a Command Note about engine doubling Orions and shield repair, but it hasn't been published yet.

also, don't forget that in addition to regenerating shield boxes, you can also rotate up to 5 boxes from one adjacent shield during the End of Turn sequence.

Often times I forget to use shield reinforcement to help reduce damage to a shield so I dont have to regenerate as much at the end of the turn.

That's OK. I manage to forget to use EM, pretty much every game. It's like there is a hole in my brain where that rule lives...

Actually, shield regeneration occurs at the beginning of the turn. This is important because you can't use left-over power from a turn to repair shields.

Just FYI

And that's really too bad. There are turns in which ships stay at a distance and merely do some shield damage AND do not use all their available energy. It would be nice to be able to use that energy to repair a few shield boxes then and there. That would probably spell bad times for the sabre dance, however.

I think you may have missed what he was trying to say...he forgets to reinforce his shields with battery power then has to use more energy to rebuild the shield in the shield regen action at the start of the next turn.

...in fact speaking of Tactical Notes, iirc this idea was published as a tactic in the latest Cap'n's Log.
