While I enjoy the fiction in the Captain's Logs, I am looking for more stories to read.
Concerning the Star Trek novels, can anyone recommend any particular novels with good battle scenes?
If not, do you have a favorite Star Trek novel for whatever reason?
I am always looking for recommendations for reading material.

I like the IKV Gorkon series. You will probably like Dreadnought and Black Fire. Outside the comfort zone of Star Trek, I think you would really like the Wing Commander series since you like to play Kzinti. It has the Kilrathi, a tiger-like race with a warrior caste mentality that reminds me of the Crusader Clans in BattleTech.

As far as TOS Trek novels go, it's been a few decades since I was a serious reader of those. I do recall "Dreadnought" being a good read and having some good ship combat in it.

Dreadnought was great. It was great to see the FJ DN and DD in a novel.
It's been 13 years since I read Black Fire, but that had some good battles as I recall (and the FJ DD too!).
The Kobayashi Maru was cool because you got to hear four different versions of a test solution (Kirk, Sulu, Scotty, Chekov).
Rules of Engagement and The Pandora Principle were cool, though I don't remember much from them (13 years ago too).
I'm actually in the middle of the ST: Vanguard series and while there's really only one per book, the battles scenes in Harbinger and Summon the Thunder are cool.
The former has 6 Tholian cruisers (most likely PCs, as that's all that is cannon) against a TOS Miranda (I like to think of it as an NCL).
The latter has a few Tholian cruisers (once again likely PCs) against a D7.

A lot of the problem with Trek novels is that the Feds are just too darn good at finding 'Peaceful' solutions and don't often let the photons out to play.
'Damn the diplomacy, full power to the torpedoes!' <my paraphrase of Adm. Farragut, with apologies>

I think Spock Must Die! was the very first Trek novel. It was written by James Blish, who wrote the paperback adaptations of the TOS episodes.

There was one called "Final Frontier" when the ship was under Robert April. The Enterprise is flung by a warp accident far into Romulan space, and end up hunted by the Romulan fleet. I rmember liking it a lot and wonder if I still have it somewhere..

They aren't novels, but here are a couple of short pieces of fiction rejected by ADB for various reasons.
