FC Tourny System?

I've actually come up with a tourny system.
3 ships per player
300 BPV
No more than one dreadnought
No battleships
Any published ships can be used (any ship in Captain's Log, Communique, etc.)
Fleet scale
Each player plays two opponents (two games). Victory points are used. Once all are finished, the top three in earned VP's take 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
Opinions? Comments? Ideas?

Are the players allowed to mix races? Can they change their ship choice after learning who they will be playing against?

Once you pick your squadron, you're stuck with it. Choose wisely...

We shall field test the new tourney rules with a Tournament !!
Where: GameWyze, Lewisville TX (near Dallas,
at the Vista Ridge Mall, lower level, next door to
Dillards).
When: Saturday, March 24th, 1:00 pm.
Format: Swiss-style tourney, 2 rounds of 50 minutes
each. Other rules as above by LokiRising. Prizes will
be awarded.
Bring your large-hex maps and large-ship counters
(painted miniatures are welcome too. If everyone
paints their own ships, we may have a painting contest
as well

.
Please RSVP if you think you can make it so we can
plan ahead.
Vanessa, would you please send demo-stuff to the
GameWyze location in Plano, TX. (It's already on
your list of venues).

Bueno! I'll try to make it - with ships and stuff in hand. Too bad it can't be at GameWyze Plano...

It has to be at the Lewisville location, because one of the players is working there that day and can't make it any other time... :\

If you can tell me how the rules worked out after your tourney, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!
