The Key to the Destruction of the WYN and the Holdfast?

Something occured to me. Couldn't an Energy Monster head over to the WYN cluster and eat the Outside "shell"? It could multiply into 100s of other Monsters which would then head into the cluster and destroy the WYN fleet.

Also, couldn't the energy monster eat tholian webs with ease as well?

What if the Lyrans "lured" a monster to the Cluster with a frieghter that had power reactors or something, and then let it attack the cluster when it took out the frieghter?

What if the Klingons did the same, but towards a tholian starbase?

Could it be the end for the WYN? Could the Tholians truely become extinct?

The question this raises in my mind is if an energy monster can do interstellar travel. If it can and you can somehow get it to chase you at FTL speeds then all of your points could be interesting discussions.

If they can't go FTL and/or they can't travel between stars then unfortunately it ends there.

But what if the monster "sensed" the energy and went there by it's own free will? And I think it can go faster than light, cause sublight ships only move 4 hexes a turn (1 in SFB)

Not much is known about Energy Monsters. SPP did an article on them for Captain's Log. It's not known if Energy Monsters are alive, or if they are simply natural phenomena. They seem to attack starships. If they could eat any kind of energy, they would probably eat stars as well, causing them to multiply without limit. So there must be something peculiar to the energies of starships which attracts them. At any rate, the history contained in the "source tapes" showed that energy monsters didn't eat the WYN radiation shell. :D

They had better be alive, cause I'm writing a scenario thatc requires them to be, or else it wouldn't make sense.

I don't think anyone has really defined whether they are alive or not. (That's probably part of gathering the 200 points of lab information or whatever ;))

But the Star Fleet Universe has been defined by its scenarios and fiction, in that much of the history of the Star Fleet Universe has been written, not only by ADB staff, but also by the players themselves when they write the scenarios. Ever wondered where the history of 'Day 1' came from - all those heroic yet hopeless actions fought by beleaguered Federation starships? It's the scenarios that define it.

Therefore if you write a scenario and/or fiction piece that defines the Energy Monster as being sentient, then as long as it's OK with SVC, there's a chance it will be published and become part of the SFU's history.

There will always be exceptions. For example, the Andromedans are supposed to have an air of mystery about them. Any fiction story or scenario in which the Andromedans are given a full physical description (this many eyes/cameras/arms/legs/tentacles/wheels, whatever) will most likely not see the light of publication.

So, either run the proposal by SVC and see what he says, or send him the finished article and see what he says. He's probably reading this anyway..... :)

Which, let's face it, is unimaginably huge.....
