Thinking of buying SFBF

At my local game shop they have a copy of SFBF, but from the price tag (if I am reading their coding correctly) it looks like that copy was aquired by the store in late 2008.

If I buy it, are there any updates to the rules, cards, etc that I might need? And if so are they readily available? Or is it the same game today as in 2008?

Thanks for any input you might have!

One you buy today is going to be exactly 100.00000% identical.

I bought SFBF and have played a couple of games with friends.
The game exceeded my expectations and my friends liked it too.

I have some friends who are intimidated by Fed Commander, so I am introducing them to SFBF as a way to get familar with the SFU genre.

There is a lot of SFBF expansion stuff on the website you can download for free.

One of the things we noticed in playing the card game is that it really does serve as a great introduction to SFB concepts. You might also Check out Klingon Armada. Its easier than SFB or FC and all your components will work with it.

We have an upcoming convention in a couple of months time. My objective is to run a campaign in a weekend, 4-6 players, different race each, but resolve the battles using SFBF.

Will let you know how this pans out.

I would be delighted beyond measure to see some of the very exciting expansions mentioned see print.
