Am I correct how I am doing this:

I am flying a Federation CA, with a repair of 4. I take some internals on turn 1. So I decide I am going to repair a Left Warp box for 3 repair points, and use the remaining 1 point to begin repair on another warp box.

Turn 2 I get four repair points and allocate 2 to the same warp box I previously spent 1 on. I have two more and I being to repair another warp box.

Turn 3 I get four more repair points. I spent 1 for finishing repairing the previous warp box and use the remaining 3 to repair a battery.

Is this the correct way to do a repair?

Yes.

But you've got to repair things before starting on the next repair (5G4) or those repair points previously spent are lost.

So you are saying that no matter how many repair points your ship can make, you can either only repair 1 box or part of one box?

Bevause in my example I do finish repairs on boxes before beinginng another.

Sorry, I got confused on the cost of repair for power (thinking 4 points, not 3); edited to update it. It's too early.
