Federation Admiral- Feature Question

Will Federation Admiral have any kind of abstract battle resolution system to determine the outcome of battles without fully playing them (similar to F&E's battle system).

This is important to me, because of one, some, or all of the following:

A) Some battles are too lopsided to play out in Fed Com.
B) I prefer to play the most important battles only in Fed Com.
C) Players are too busy with real life to battle it out in Fed Com, but we want to keep the strategery going and not let the game stagnate.

Thanks!!

Eric:
Yes. There is an abstracted combat resolution system included in Fed Ad. It goes by the very inventive, yet highly descriptive acronym: FACRS [Federation Admiral Combat Resolution System] - or at least it did in playtest version 1.0.

During the couple of small scale playtest campaigns we did, we used Fed Comm to fight battles and then refought them using the abstracted system. While their was not a direct corelation, the results were similar enough to satify us that the system was indeed viable.

Sounds great, Tony. Exactly what I was hoping for.

I believe it's based on the Victory By Any Means engine's Campaign Scale Combat Resolution system (CSCR). I prefer to call it that; I personally feel that saying "see ess see ahr" is a lot less likely to cause offense than yelling "Fakers!!"

Terry: You are correct. It is based on the CSRS.

Quite right! The quick combat system takes up a few pages of the main FA book, and is VERY similar to the one we use in VBAM's First Edition Campaign Guide.

Obviously it lacks the details of a real game of Federation Commander, but you get to make some meaningful decisions before the battle begins and it can resolve battles very quickly.
