I know. I've already told my wife, adult children, and mother that if they choose to get me a Christmas present this year - they are to pool their money and order direct from ADB.
And since my 30th anniversary is in Feb... wifey will get her new, diamond ring... and I get more Starline 2500s.

If Mongoose will use the same ball-and-socket-jointed flying stands they currently do for ACtA:NA (and which Tony had his pre-production "R" CA on), they will come in small and large flavours.

Gary: The ACTA: SF ships will be on the standard, mongoose ball-and-socket stands... and they will be in both small and large sizes. Deoendign on the size ofthe ship.

Large for Cruisers and up, small for the others.

Personally, I've never big a huge fan of the ball and joint method. For my bab 5 and 2400 models I did the star ranger barrel clasp screw method, that way I could fit most ships in only 1"-1" 1/2 foam and could use any stand with just about any ship. Even had long and short ones so ships could get closer together.

I'm not sure if I'm going to do that this time around since I don't know about drilling holes into the resin. Might go with small magnets this time., but I would like the ships to be removable from the stands.

Any other suggestions?

I just glued the ball into the "hat" but didn't cement the stem into it so the rest of the base could be removed for storage purposes while still allowing the model to pivot in place.

Hmm, never thought about gluing the ball in place. Might have to experiment with that one, Thanks!

Do the stands fit standard FC map hexes?

The small ones are slightly smaller than the FC hexes, the larger ones are a little over half again as big (but they are clear, so you should still be able to use them).

FYI the small ones are 30mm across and the larger ones 50mm across.

In case anybody missed it, Mongoose put the first view of a painted Federation frigate up on their blog. Can't wait to get these new minis on my workbench. They turned out so good.

The lettering/numbering looks neat, are they perhaps decals? Does anyone know yet if there will be 2500 decals?

(If not I will have to use my 2400 decals on them, they will be a bit too small but will look a lot better than if I try to hand paint letters/numbers myself.)

Man, this is going to get expensive fast.

And I LOVE the FFB. I don't know why. The DW is almost identical, but I like the FFB so much more, can't explain it.

I think there have been discussions of decals, and at least someone will offer them, not sure though.
