Fleet Opinion

I just got in a box of Federation Commander stuff. It contained everything from Romulan Attack to Transports Attacked, complete with associated boosters for each product, plus 91 and Line of Battle. :D I am trying to decide which fleet I would like to use and have narrowed it down between the Hydrans and ISC. I like how both fleets have ships designed to fight at a specific range and can cover each other's shortcomings. I would like some opinions on this matter before I make a decision. Thanks,

Use all of them :) Seriously, every fleet is different and fun to play in its own way. In my opinion, by flying only one or two fleets you're robbing yourself of 80% of the fun of the game.

Recall an Old Saying from SFB players, learn to use them, it helps you learn to beat them ---

That is quite true in any game, but more in the SFU than normal.

Personally, between those two, I'd go for the ISC; but I'm a fan of the Concordium from a background point of view, so I might be a tad biased.

And in any rate, there's nothing to stop you from trying out as many empires as you like, and going with whichever works best for you (in terms of tactics, background, or a perhaps both).

The answer is play whatever fleet you like. But you won't really know what fleet(s) you like to play until you've tried them out. Remember the story of the green eggs and ham.

The moral of Green Eggs and Ham is that if someone won't eat meat that is so far past its use-by date that it has turned green, pester them until they do.

Our group plays at a game shop, so we try to have at least one of the Big Three races on the table to generate interest in the game. Seems to be working, because we keep growing :) Fans of Trek who wander past might not give us a second glance if we had Lyrans vs. Hydrans on the board :? Now that we've reached a fairly good size, we're branching out into the other races. What's that show called? 1000 ways to die?

Sounds like shrewd marketing.
