Historical adversaries

Post by Spacecowboy87 »

I know we can play any fleet against any fleet, but historically, did the Seltorians ever link up with the Klingons against the Tholians? And speaking of the Vudar  did they ever team up with the Klingons against anyone? And on the other hand, did they team up with anyone against the Klingons?
Damn, these dice are cold!

The Selts fought the Tholians, but at the time the Klingons were busy elsewhere. If the Seltorians had made a major breakthrough against the Tholians, I think the Klingons would have sent ships to take advantage of it and help the Selts. There would have been some arguments about what to do with the Tholians though. Selts wanted complete annihilation of every Tholian, and the Klingons would have just made them a subject species.

The Vudar sent some ships to assist against the Hydrans to gain political concessions from the Klingons, IIRC. They also have cooperated in anti-piracy operations with the Klingons. The Klingons were afraid that cracking down on the Vudar might cause the Vudar to ally with the Hydrans, so a what-if scenario featuring Hydrans and Vudar vs Klingons might work.

Other tidbits:

The Seltorians were able to stage their campaign against the Tholians here in the Milky Way because the Klingons assisted them in finding them and with a location to base from. The Klingons viewed the Seltorians as a useful tool against the Tholians they were unable to deal with, at the time. Later, when the Seltorians were determined to be a liability, the Klingons wiped them out.

The Vudar were considered by the Klingons to be a subject race. The problem for the Klingons was the unique geographic conditions of the Vudar's home makes it impossible for the Klingons to directly monitor them. The Vudar eventually "rebeled" and founded their own enclave (or the Klingons allowed this, as a wedge against the Hydrans; who knows which is true?).
