If you are going to Origins, one of the perks is that you get new releases immediately. You can order "For pick up at Origins" copies of Captain's Log #47. (We will be releasing them to distributors the next week and they'll be available for mail order the week after.) We will have copies to sell there, too.

If writing an historical scenario, does it have to mesh with the rest of the SFU history?

Yes everything must match the already published timeline. Finding a good time to squeeze in a scenio. Ships used people even the place has to be checked.

If you have a good idea. write it up send it in.
