Just curious ,
Has roll ever been thought of for the game. Ie your ship is damaged on the right( starboard) side so you roll it 180 degrees so left(port) is on the right and the right is on the left. since the gravity is supplied by the ship , it should not affect ship functions except in ablack hole or any kind of gravity well.

A het seems to be pitch or yaw of up to 180 degress.

I was sure it was in one of the Decisions of the Star Fleet Universe Board of Proposals in an old Captain's Log (I hesitate to tell you how old). A quick look couldn't find it, but I do remember it also mentioned bringing unfired weapons from the other side to bear.

I don't remember if it was totally rejected, or tabled until a full 3-D version of SFB could be developed.

The best bet for that sort of thing would be to have a look at the work currently being done on the upcoming Star Fleet Universe adaptation of Ad Astra Games' Squadron Strike game engine.

We rejected it for SFB, but noted that it could in theory be done in a future 3d game.

And now, with SFSS, we will.

In SFSS, my Lord Bishops and Dragoons will finally be able to maintain a 'rolling' barrage...
