Is the Federation LTT based on the NCL frame or on the DW frame? I've got an extra DW and an extra Tug pod, and I wanted to convert myself an LTT.

It's based on the NCL, but nothing says you can't use your DW for it on a mini. Handwavium is a very powerful thing.

It is definitely based on the NCL.

The problem with using the DW to transport a pod is that its third (center) engine is located where the pod would need to go.

In SFB, they have introduced "theater transports" which are mini-tugs based on frigate hulls. Most races also get a DW version, but the Feds do not, and the engine arrangement is the reason why.

Makes sense - I couldn't tell from the cover of "Combined Operations" as to the base hull.

Thanks.

But don't let me stop you. :)

There is nothing against not using the center engine on the DW, putting the pod there and calling it a LTT. As long as you are happy with the result, I don't think many are going to quibble.

I was just trying to give the "canon" answer, not tie your hands in any way ...

Cannon is what I was after - Handwavium will do for this conversio. Thanks!

Here's my Kit-bashed Federation LTT, with removable cargo pod/tow pad/neck (so I can use it as a stock NCL, as-needed):

Top View (with pod removed)

These pictures are from back in August, before I primed and base-coated the mini. It's in the queue for detail painting at the moment.
