Federation Commander

With the LMC Playtest Rulebook uploaded to Warehouse 23 and elsewhere, this thread is for discussing the broader issue of where, if anywhere, the Lesser Magellanic Cloud should go next in a Federation Commander context.

Should there be an ePack for metal-hull Jindarians at some point, any of their "pre-2400" ships would be available for use with the two-to-three Caravans that exist in the Lesser Magellanic Cloud during the "modern" era.

If the Yrol and Chomak were to be introduced to the setting im SFB, I would consider both factions as being good candidates for conversion here, also.

Plus, if FC or BoM moves forward towards any attrition unit types (fighters and PFs), there are a handful of types in Module C5 that could potentially make the crossing without too much fuss.

And in the longer run, if Alpha Octant X-ships are brought into the game system, any signs of advanced technology in the LMC (outside of what iss known about the Jindarians of the Cloud courtesy of Module X1R) would be an option, too.


Are there any particular aspects of the LMC you would like to see further explored?

Will the BPV's of the ships be recalculated if the conversion is not clean due to differences in game mechanics?

I'm somewhat wary about doing that, since FC tends to stick as closely as it can to the equivalent point values for a given ship (plus or minus its given set of refits) from one game system to another.

Even in the case of the ISC CL/CS, the Ship Card merely splits the difference between the two, rather than re-point either hull variant outright. (Of course, I would prefer for the CL and CS to each have their "real" point values instead, but that starship has long since sailed...)

That said, the door is still ajar if playtesting proved that some sort of PV change would be warranted, though I'd defer to ADB in terms of what the final say on that matter should be.
