Plasma sabot question

Our FTF group was playing yesterday and a question came up that frankly we never needed to deal with up to this point. Does a plasma ship with the sabot refit have a psuedo plasma that also goes speed 40? One thought it does go speed 40, I thought is was restricted to 32. I looked, and maybe I'm overlooking the answer but I couldn't find anything on this either way. If anyone knows of the rule I'd appreciate the reference.
